Hey all,  the way I read the sidebar in adventure companion, the one "blood" feat does not apply to heritage feats.  Am I correct?  Just wondered what everybody else's impression was and what the offical word from Pat or Alex might be.  Thanks  Smiley

Define "apply to".

If I had to guess I'd think he's referring to how the "blood" feats prohibit someone who takes one from taking any other.

If all you're asking is whether taking a "Blood" feat prevents you from taking a "Heritage" feat (if you otherwise still qualify for one and/or are willing to sacrifice for one - note the Level 1 only Prerrequisite and additional Special clause), then the answer is no. You can have one of each.

I think he's asking if you can have multiple heritage feats - if so, the answer is per the RAW, yes. Blood feats are effectively "half-something" feats - considering any character taking them already has a Species, that makes you half-Blood/half-Species.

Yep, Alex figured it out  Grin  Sorry about the confusion all.  I typed that after pulling an all nighter taking care of a sick little one and wasn't entirely with the program.  Thanks again.

But under Splinter Race Feats in the Human Species description, it follows each "Heritage" feat name with a parenthetical naming the type of species blood that Human has. To me, that seems to indicate that Heritage and Blood feats are mutually exclusive of each other.

Those sections are flavor and intended to show how to use the feats to develop common archetypes - they're not hard-and-fast, mutually exclusive rules.

One of the hallmarks of Fantasy Craft is that for each and every build there are multiple "skins." We balance the rules to ensure a fair and fun play experience, and leave the flavor generally vague so you can skin options however you feel works best for your story, setting, and table.

I assure you they aren't. The Heritage feats predate the Blood feats by nearly 2 years, that's all.

needs one (or more?) human blooded feats.
We can make Humans have a little bit of elf or dwarf or even ogre in the family, but not the other way around.

That's a little difficult when the 'standard' human template is 'Medium Folk Walker with a base speed of 30 ft.' It's much easier to start with a human then add on the effects of the Blood feat.

True enough.  I didn't make any claims that it would be easy.

Probably a Human blooded feat would simply impart a degree of human versatility.  So, a couple of options that the players would choose.  Origin skill, maybe a bonus to a save of choice, a trick.  That sort of thing.

Per RAW, you do not even need 'blood'  an Unborn with Ogre Blooded???  Pech Blooded Rootwalker?  sometimes the GM just has to saw "um... no."
