Greetings all!

The Laval-Born and Lava-Clan dwarven racial feats on p.103 are confusing me.

Lets say I only have the Lava-Born feat:
If I'm already converting my melee damage into fire and score a threat,
will the action dice used also be fire damage or must I also have the
Lava-Clan feat for that?

Thank you!

Welcome to the forums!

If you just have Lava-Born:
You can convert to Heat damage*.

If you also have Lava-Clan:
You can convert to Fire damage*, by spending an AD to boost damage.

*for unarmed/melee damage (and only lethal, for Lava-Born).

Fire damage is different from Heat damage.  They're both listed on p210, if you have the 2nd printing.

Thanks for the quick reply...

I read and re-read both feats several times trying to wrap my mind
around them and I never noticed it was heat AND fire...!

Silly me   Shocked

Thank you!

Another case of D&D assumptions, perhaps?

Another case of D&D assumptions, perhaps?

More like easily confused adjectives. Would be very easily prevented with a () subtext.
FE:" ...inflicts heat (not fire) damage"
Especially with how many times this sort of confusion has been posted about.

I think the move of heat to the 'special damage' section of things has helped clear that up a bit, too
