I've downloaded it and looked at it but haven't actually read much of it.  Its looks interesting but I have never played Mass Effect so I really don't know anything about the source material.

This. I'm trying to persuade a ME-playing friend to drop in and comment, as she feels some of the species are little off

I'm also going to have to pick up the game before I am able to tell you how it captures it, but I'm loving the look of it so far.

glimmerrat,

This is going to make my GF very happy, TY!

Side note: This looks amazing, layout wise, GG. Need to look through it a bit more, just been scanning through it.

I forgot to mention: If you want to print the document, you can hide most pictures (except those embedded in the text, like weapons and vehicles) by disactivating the "images" layer with Adobe Reader 6+.

Aegis, what layout software do you use? Can it apply a rounded corner to images? As a stylistic suggestion, rounded corners would reduce the visual separation of the illustrations (by eliminating hard edges) and give them a simple "futury" look. Likewise with the sidebars, which right now have a "hard" beveled outline.

At first glance, the biotic powers seem a bit too powerful. Barrier gives you more DR than anything can get through, a couple of them leave opponents helpless...

At first glance, the biotic powers seem a bit too powerful. Barrier gives you more DR than anything can get through, a couple of them leave opponents helpless...

The barrier power's DR (along with tech armor and shields) doesn't last. It stops damage once, and then the power is cancelled.

As for certain powers leaving the target helpless:

1) Singularity lasts for 1 round
2) Stasis lasts for 1 round, and during that time they can't be damaged; additionally, it grants a saving throw
3) Cryo Blast only paralyzes standard characters
4) Neural Shock lasts for 1 round

They only get really nasty when you start tossing feats into the mix, and even then Cryo Blast can't nail special characters until level 9, and after you've purchased 3 feats!

This *is* how it works in the setting, and if you're using cover and shields like you should be, then a round or two of paralysis isn't a big deal.

Do you have any alternative suggestions?

The idea that occurred to me was make Biotics more like Paths, and individual powers should be modeled on spells. I'm not sure if it's a perfect solution, but I think it'd work better than what you have now. That's just my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I love all the work you put into this, it looks spectacular.

I posted these powers months ago, more than once - why did nobody say anything back then?! It's only when the finished product comes out that people start commenting!

Because now it's pretty Smiley.
