Thought I would post some of the stuff that I've been working on, in the vein of the Adventure Companion. I've been working on these for a little while now, and just wanted some advice on the mechanics I've come up with, in addition to the setting. Does it work? Is it interesting sounding? Etc...

The setting is, at it's heart, a combination of Dark and High Fantasy. The best comparison would be if Conan and Drizzt had a baby, as disturbing as that may sound... I'm also a big fan of Steampunk, so there's a bit of that in the background, as well.

It's meant to be violent, bloody, and filled to the brim with bewbage.

Tear it apart, and let me know what you think. Very much a work in progress.

Trying a new sharing service, so I hope this one doesn't suck. Apologies in advance.

Looking good! Haven't gone into the background in any great detail, but I think I've got the gist of the story.

A couple of suggestions for the 'Characters' section of the document:

Don't put the Alignments into a table format. Try using this format...
Quote
Alignments
TEXT

Balthazar
Skills:
Skill, Skill, Skill, Skill
Paths: Order, Metal, Knowledge
Ritual Weapon: Weapon
Avatar: AvatarNPC

Celestos
Skills:
Skill, Skill, etc....
Makes things a lot easier to read in the long, unless you tweak the table to span both columns.

Species Feats: You might want to think about formatting the three feats to follow the standard Elven Nation/Noble format, especially considering that these are must be taken at character creation. Alternately, take a look at the existing Nation/Noble feats and see if any come close to what you're wanting. If they do, all you then need to do is include a quick break down of which feats are appropriate to each group, much like the sidebars in the Adventure Companion.

(One last thing, you might want to include a little more of a margin between the two columns. Makes things a little easier to read in the long run.)

Yeah. I really don't like how the table came out. Heh thanks for the advice.

The feats are still kind of early, as I intend to follow the typical nation\noble setup, once I have a better idea on how I want the noble versions to look.

I did look at the existing elven feats, and just felt my basic idea for the Folk in my setting were different enough to warrant some special attention. The Shadow and Red folk, at least. Yeah, the Forest Folk are basically Tarzan+typical wood elves. Heh

Yeah, I'd heard from a friend that the way my pdf program works makes the format look a little screwy. Still looking at correcting it.

Thanks for the tips, so far!

Which program are you using the make the PDF's? I've been a long time fan of just writing content up in Word then using PDF995 to 'print' the document into a PDF file. It's pretty good about retaining formatting, too.

I use Open Office, which is a neat little free program, and it has an auto pdf transfer button. It's super easy, but can be a bit screwy. Heh

Kewl. It probably works in a similar way then. It's amazing what you can do for free these days, even if it can be a little hit and miss at times.

Word, man. heh I'll probably scout around and try some other pdf converters, like the one you use, but for free, I cannot complain.

Finished up some character creation with some friends last night for the setting, and it's looking sweet. I've been running another game for months now that uses the setting, so I'm looking at both parties as "play testers." Tongue

I've found that CutePDF (http://www.cutepdf.com/) works fairly well for Windows (for a free app).  It acts like a printer so you print from any application and it converts it to PDF.  It makes it easier for the formatting to come out right for me since it is usually exactly the same as the printed version.

My Daredevil specialty is being testing in it and another player is using the Artificer base class that was part of Aegis's early Eberron work (When he had it as a stand-alone, "just the class translated to English" PDF). We're also using it to playtest some of my own Iron Kingdoms warjack weapons, since our captain has an "AetherTech" PL and we're using one of my Ironclads to represent it.

Been working on some new stuff for the setting, including taking out that table and what not. Should have a new updated version in the next day or so. I may even post some stuff from the adventures I run, if anyone would be interested in dat.

Took some of the advice and moved around some stuff/changed it up some.

Sadly, some of the stuff I have added seems to have disappeared. (I apparently forgot to save while drinking a bit, the other night.) ugh

Here's what I have, still.

Gonna have to readd some of the stuff I already typed up, it seems.

Just a quick update. Been crazy busy with a job interview (that went well. yay me), and I'm just now having some time to continue work on this. Should have a good sized update soon, I hope.
