There is no immidiete response. The room is silent, save the continued playing of the radio in the background.

"The Jack Benny program has been brought to you by Jello brand gelatin deserts. Join us next week when our guest will be George Burns and Gracie Allen. Thanks again for listening to..the Jack Benny Program!!"

Rolling her eyes, Firestar speaks up loudly, putting an anxious, even irritated note into her voice. "I told ya, Mikey, ain't nothing happened. You're imagining things. Ya always imagining things like this. Stop compensating for being such a little man."

The small narrow hallway feels even more confined as a mere few seconds tick by standing in their waiting. The complete lack of response is a bit disconcerting. Firestars words do not engender a response, anymore than the original knocking.

(if you take action, let me know how much time takes place before the action. You've spent at least 30 seconds in the hall waiting for an answer of some kind. )

After waiting for the response, Arsenal shrugs and turns to the door.

"If you don't holler, you ain't home. We're coming in now."

He doesn't feel particularly good about being first through the door, but he figures he's as much of a friendly face as the group can muster. He takes a breath, then grabs the doorknob and turns it.

The door is locked, though busting through the door shouldn't be too difficult, and picking it even easier (though more time consuming).

Arsenal grabs his lockpicks once more.

"Hey, doll, you ever see a bird lock himself in?" he says to White Rose, but keeps it loud enough that anyone inside the apartment can hear him. He starts working the door. This time, he moves faster, but he's convinced he would notice the footsteps of anyone trying to get out.

Arsenal sets to work, and within a few seconds the door easily pops open, and the sounds of the radio echo even louder into the hallway. It's suddendly obvious the radio was blocking out other noises. The window is opened, the curtains blowing in. It was not open when you came up. Anyone who moves to the window can easily see a figure limping away through the yard. He looks back towards the window, and picks up his pace trying to escape. He is most likely not going terribly far, but it won't take him long to get to a corner, and possibly find a maze of buildings and alleys to disapear into.

"Turn your Lights Out. Tonight we venture into places that can only be visited in the dark.." the radio continues now loudly echoing through the hall with the chilly narrators voice.

He is 60 feet from the widow, and is obviously incapabable of a full run. He is about another 100 feet from a corner that would provide him with choices of cover. The hallway and the stairs cover 40 feet. (A full run would require an athletics check dc 15+tl=23 to avoid falling down stairs. Any lesser movement is fine)
The downstairs door will open easily, but even if you were there right now, you'd still be 70 feet behind him.

(further note...Sneak total (with modifiers for background noise) 25...Notice roll was 14+7=21 passive skill, no action die available. His climb check however had much to be desired.  or he'd already be gone... Wink )

"Son of a motherless goat! Firestar curses, shouldering the others aside and bolting back out the apartment door. She descends the creaky stairs as sure footed as a gazelle, her coat fluttering in her wake; by the time her comrades make it down, she's already streaking ahead - and is only just starting to break out into a dead run.

(OOC: Gotta love a 40' base speed. At the end of my action, I've moved 80' to be a total of 40' away from the building. Assuming even the worst case scenario and he's moving at his normal speed that puts him at 40' away from the corner so I'll take a run action next round and catch up with him just as he gets there.)

Note if there were a fire escape, Arsenal would not have proposed a boost, and most likely your fleeing adversary would not be limping.

(leap from second story window (dc 23) 11+7=18   Damage 2d4=4 vitality) If you choose that course of action.

Arsenal has a split second to make up his mind, then runs, skips through the window and jumps for it. His trenchcoat flares up like the wings of a bat while his various holsters, straps and bandoliers clearly show themselves. He aims for a nearby pile of trash and crashes into it. Now he's less than fresh, but it stopped his fall without too much pain.

He picks himself up and starts sprinting after the perp.

Rose, no slouch at athletics either, followed Arsenal out the window, using window sills and the wall to try to slow her descent.
