I really want to use the stress mechanic well. It seems cool, but I'm not sure what to apply it to other than fire. What are some good situations to start dropping stress damage on the players.

I was going to run an adventure with the players stranded in Siberia. The cold damage does not seem to indicate stress, so what does (again other than fire?)

I mean it would seem to encompass being pinned under fire etc..but gaining stress every time someone shoots at you would be insane..So what works for you?

Well, if you want Stress under fire check up on the Resolve rules. Things like heavy weapons, being badly outnumbered, and the like can force Resolve checks, and it's Stress galore if you start to blow them. >=D
Conversely Tactics checks can relieve the negative status effects, tis rather cool to be a combat leader and keep your people focused just when things are going most wrong.

I'm surprised nobody has pointed you at Lord Kruelos' list of all things stress related.

I thought it had been reposted after the move... but I'm not seeing it with the search engine.

If nobody else posts it, I can point you at my google notebook.

Seconded. I thought the 'big list of all things stressful' made it through the move. Alas, I didn't save it so if you've got it saved somewhere Psion, you could just repost or wiki it so everyone can benefit. The google notebook could work too if you provide a link.

Well, I don't have time to copy it over and format it right now, but here's the published notebook; I made a section so this hyperlink will take you right to it:

Note that I juggle around my notebooks and don't always have them published, so don't rely on this link being there ad infinitum. Wink

That's an excellent reference, and come to think of it, I missed the vacuum type...

I was researching, thinking about stress damage for Chems (see previous post) and I got a question.

Should the condition dying carry stress damage? I think dying is stressfull specially if you've gained that condition while drowning.

Fragile Minds discusses that. Stress damage for Suffocation and 'looming danger'. It doesn't cover a brush with the dying condition though, although you could probably pick whichever of the danger lines fits your mood and the proper tone.

Flashbang grenades also do stress damage.  1d4 for blinded and 1d4 for stunned.

Never forget the NPC Quality of Unnerving ... it adds 1D4 Stress Damage per level of Unnerving everytime a melee or unarmed attack succeeds by the NPC ... heaven forbid you put this on a NPC type with minion or horde... watch your players crawl into a fetal position quickly
