Oi. The Cape's order has been cut back to 10 episodes (from 13). Brace for it, folks.

ABC has ordered Marc Cherry's Hallelujah script to pilot: "Hallelujah is set in the town of Hallelujah, Tenn., which is being torn apart by the forces of good and evil. Its fortunes change when a stranger comes to town, bringing justice, peace and possibly restoring faith." So far, so good. Then there's this: "[Episodes] will be punctuated by songs sung by the gospel choir, which serves as a sort of Greek chorus." This is at least the third pilot I've read about this production season that features regular music in the mix. I'm a devout Gleek but... really? Not everyone is Ryan Murphy and not every show can (pardon the pun) make music sing.

Same linked story talks about Once Upon a Time, which is scripted by Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz (the duo behind Tron: Legacy). The show "centers on a woman with a troubled past who is drawn into a small town in Maine where the magic and mystery of Fairy Tales just may be real." Ah, Hollywood... So very susceptible to trend.

I have seen Face Off and it is a good show. The challenges for the makeup are interesting, a couple of villains are emerging, the talent is unmistakable and the judges are outstanding, especially Glenn.

Quote
FRINGE was the #1 show of the night among Adults 18-49. FRINGE ranked No. 1 from 9-10pm among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34, Women 18-34, and all key male demos.

It looks as if the show may actually sustain a Friday night slot.

Justified is coming back for a second season next week. If you like Elmore Leonard, westerns, crime drama, or just want to see Tim Olyphant doing his best Rawhide-era Clint Eastwood impression, you should definitely catch up on it.

I for one cannot wait - though I'll have to, at least for a day or two, as I'll be out of town the day it premieres.

Huh. NBC's new head of programming is really daring. He's actually ordering a period western to pilot. Yup, you read that right. A western. Set just after the Civil War.  Shocked

'Course, that's not even remotely a guarantee it'll make it to our screens, but it's still a ballsy move.

Also mentioned in that article: last year's Prime Suspect pitch is moving forward. Yet more Transatlantic Licensing, but at least I can see it working this time. It's a procedural, and we Americans (myself excluded these days) are all about the friggin' procedural. Plus the original's show's formula is simple enough that I think it could translate pretty well. It won't be the same show (it won't feature Dame Helen Mirren, for one), but it's got a shot - on paper, anyway.

At least Prime Suspect has Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights, The Kingdom) behind it.

So I got around to watching the Community D&D episode over lunch today... It's funny. It's hilarious, in fact, but it's not helping. Anyone who thinks this is doing anything other than reinforcing the stereotypes is dead wrong.

Still, very funny. "I wait 14 minutes." Still chuckling.

Ken Jeong dressed as a Dark Elf doing his character's intro was by far the funniest part. Although, "I wait 14 minutes!" was solid too.
