Nazis: they can conquor Poland in a couple of days, but they can't do jack shit in a timely fashion about stuff crashing into Hitler's office or some crazy English lady shooting up a posh restaurant.

I am officially over NuWho's regeneration magic bullshit. I think this manages to abuse it even more than Stolen Earth/Journey's End did.

And given Moffat's claiming he's had this planned for ages, Mels should have been at least referenced during season 5.

On the plus side, he somehow managed to undo the aura of utter skeeviness he'd placed on the first meeting between the Doctor and River

...Melody mentions she only regenerated once prior to the one in the episode, as seen at the end of Day of the Moon. How did she end up a young girl, around Amelia's age? Surely she would have aged normally in between.

She did say, as river, that she might reduce her age slowly just to freak people out. If she has control over her own age perhaps she made herself Amy's age when she found them.

That was a great hand-wave for the fact that we see River getting older despite the fact that each time we see her she should be younger than the previous encounter...

Well, on a meta level she clearly has, so saying that she's basically rewritten one of the rewrittable bits of time that's already been rewritten last season -- because hey, The Big Bang is such a witty nudge-nudge-wink-wink reference to Melody's creation anyhow -- gets him off the hook for not having come up with the idea before the break.

Because if nothing else, Mels should bsolutely have had a cameo or even just a mention during the domestic bliss segment at the beginning of TIA.

But I really dislike that Mels basically stole Amy's identity as a problem child because of her obsession with the Doctor.

And I don't even want to think about how little the actual time line makes sense or who was standinf in for Mels' parents for the past 20 years.

Or that Rory is basically just another of Moffat's nice guy stalkers.

Locke & Key trailer pilot: For those of you who haven't heard, this was a pilot produced by Josh Friedman (Sarah Conner Chronicles). Sadly, it wasn't picked up, so we'll never see its obvious greatness realized.

I really, really hope Friedman winds up on something incredible, preferably very soon. He's easily one of the brightest talents in the industry right now.

HBO Picks Up Aaron Sorkin’s New Untitled Pilot To Series: Yay!

Having recently watched both seasons of Sports Night, all I can say is YAY!

FOX has picked up "Breaking In" for another season to air in 2012.

I actually enjoyed that show, but didn't think it would make it at all.

Sometimes I think Fox is trying desperately to live down its trigger-happy reputation. Other times I'm pretty sure it's just one or two champions with a few Hail Mary's in their back pockets.

I'm in agreement on the second part completely Pat.

I knew America's Most Wanted would not die because John Walsh is too much of a godsend but I did expect it to end up on TruTV instead of Lifetime.

While I never watched Sportts Night, I know Aaron Sorkin is one of the greats in TV so I have faith it will do well.

Glen Mazzara on Frank Darabont and His Fears as Walking Dead's New Showrunner: This is a fascinating little piece with loads of insight about what happened, and what will happen, behind the scenes at my favorite little show that did. Definitely worth a read.

Shawn Ryan and Karl Gajdusek sell "The Last Resort" to ABC: I wish this project had gone to a cable network, as it's just too edgy and high-concept for any major network to produce well. Alas, we'll have to deal with whatever watered down version the folks over at the Alphabet care to doll out. Here's the show summary...

"The Last Resort is described as a big swing and massive in scope. It is a thriller set in the near future when the country is very fractured and revolves around the crew of a U.S. nuclear submarine who become hunted after ignoring an order to shoot nuclear missiles. They escape to a NATO listening outpost where they publicly declare themselves to be the world’s smallest nuclear nation with 24 nuclear warheads. The show will explore the society the fugitives create, the natives they meet and how what they’ve done affects the group and its unity. “It also allows us to examine what is going on in this country in micro form,” Ryan said."

Pretty sweet, no? Also, that's one hell of a double entendre they've got going for their title. I approve.
