During a recent interview, Matt Smith mentioned that he'd love to film an episode of the show in NZ. As an added bonus, Peter Jackson is happy to direct, and already has a good working relationship with Steven Moffat. I'm guessing the only people they need to convince are the ones holding the purse strings at the BBC.

Hmm... a Doctor Who and The Hobbit crossover? With Bilbo as the companion, the dwarves as a loud, boisterous gang of hangers-on and Gandalf and the Doctor engaged in an epic smug-off? It'd be a trainwreck, but one I'd pay good money to see...

That would never happen, obviously, but I wouldn't complain about a PJ-directed episode shot in, or near, the Land Down Under. Smiley
