The wife and I have really enjoyed "Terra Nova" (she has a fondness for that O'Mera guy). Then with the big reveal at the end of the first season. Holy crap.

(click to show/hide)

I loved the pilot. Loved it. Raved about it to everyone who'd listen.

Then the week-to-week just broke my heart. If it weren't for the pilot being so good, and Shelley Conn being so adorable, and my morbid curiosity being so piqued, I don't think I could have made it through the season.

If it survives another year, I really hope they figure out how to craft interesting stories - because my gods this season was boring.

I agree with everything here.

I just hope for season 2 (if it gets one - which I hope it does, if only for the fate of future high concept shows) that they get some focus.  Pick what they want to be, and do it well - because currently they seem to try to have it all (genre and themes wise) and it just comes across as bland (which given the concept is almost an achievement).

That was actually one of my favorite parts of the pilot. I distinctly recall raving about it to Wolvie at Gen Con...

Then they had to go and screw it all up with two-way travel.  Angry

Um, because it served the plot? That's the best I got.

I never thought about it, but the show was rather blah... I would be engrossed with something on my laptop (writing or gaming) miss about 5 to 15 minutes of the show, catch up and then go back to whatever I was doing.

So, I thought the show was pretty good, but probably only watched about 25 minutes of each episode in total.

Terranova, while okay (good for scifi lovers) could have been so much more awesome if the family wasn't so glossy.  I don't remember where I heard it, but here goes...

A father, suffering emotional trauma from terrible prison conditions.
A teenage boy who despises his father, and rebels against him.
A young girl, withdrawn after a long time as a ward of the state.

But... we have to have things wrap up nicely, with a rose-colored glasses family to bookend each episode.

Yup, the second series (season) of Sherlock began last sunday, and as Aldus said, it started with a bang.

True words.  I had doubts the second season could be as amazing as the first, but it exceeded on all counts.  Just wish Moriarty wasn't so camp, but I can live with that.

Or, you know, not, given that Moffat takes his usual dump on female characters and misses the entire point of Irene Adler.

I really liked his take on the character. The actress was perfect and the game between them was a joy to watch. Matter of opinion, i guess.

About Moriarty... i agree, it's a little too camp... I keep thinking that Tennant would have nailed it.
