Michael Emerson has always been watchable ... As a matter of fact, he's a very funny guy who made a 3 week guest spot into Lost on a 5 yr job.

I've not watched to much TV (DVD's have spoiled me to hate commercials) but I am finding that the AMC offering The Walking Dead has potential and is pretty good. They have a few contrived issues, and I can see me telling a few of them hey, I see your reasoning, but if ya think I am giving up my weapon in a undead world yer nuts  Shocked but it is pretty good.

Surprising no one who pays attention to ratings, The Walking Dead has been renewed for a third season.

I saw that just this afternoon Pat.  Shocked AMC stands alone and certainly separate from Fox in renewing worthy shows

That's not necessarily true. FX (which is owned by the same parent company) routinely renews highly rated shows early in their runs. This happened with Sons of Anarchy just this season, in fact.

If I recall they have different heads of production for FX and for FOX despite having the same parent company while both are under the head of TV Production. ... I'm not disputing that FX renews routinely renews highly rated shows but FOX stumbles quite frequently ... Maybe their head of development screws up on something or the advertising sucks .. don't know but FOX scraps show much more quickly.

could be a difference between network and syndicated tv standards.

Not so much a difference between network and syndicated standards, as the difference between network and cable standards (most shows aren't syndicated until they hit at least 75 episodes, and usually 100).

I'll admit that FOX is a lot more trigger happy but to be fair they also take a lot of risks other networks won't. What do you think are the chances of Fiorefly having existed on any other network? Slim to none, methinks.

Neverland

From Emmy winning Executive Producer Robert Halmi, Sr. comes this original prequel to author J.M. Barrie's classic Peter Pan is now shooting in Italy and Ireland with a cast including Rhys Ifans (Pirate Radio, Notting Hill) as James Hook, Anna Friel (Pushing Daisies) as Captain Elizabeth Bonny, Oscar nominee Bob Hoskins as Smee (who previously played the character in Steven Spielberg's feature Hook), Raoul Trujillo (Tin Man) and Charlie Rowe (Pirate Radio) as Peter Pan. Neverland is written and directed by Nick Willing (Alice, Tin Man).

Neverland introduces us to a young lad named Peter and his streetwise gang, who are mysteriously transported from turn-of-the-century London into an enchanting parallel world where time stands still and an adventure awaits like nothing you've ever seen before. In Neverland, no one ever ages and lost souls have been plucked out of time. The lost boys are soon caught in a war with the man who will become Captain Hook and change the fate of this mystical land forever.

NEVERLAND will premiere in the UK on SKY MOVIES HD and in the US on Syfy.

I have little faith in this, I'm afraid. The last couple SyFy fairy tale retoolings have been pretty dismal.

It's a Trap!

I've been leery of bringing this up, because the potential for mockery is so thick, but has anyone else discovered the guilty pleasures of Strike Back?

Pros: It's a super-duper special-black-wet-ops slam-bang shoot-'em-up cheezefest that essentially posits the question: "What if Jack Bauer and Martin Riggs were partners working for a deep-black UK SOCOM group?"

Cons: It's on Cinemax. Yeah, that's right. This is THE Cinemax original series. The only one. That means there's a softcore scene in every episode, usually at one end of the ep or the other, just to remind you that you're watching the most skintastically infamous late night cable channel on the air.

Sort-of Cons: It's on WAY late. I'm in Central time, and it airs at 11pm for me. And if you tune in too soon, you have to endure one of those "unscripted" tours-of-European-sex-clubs shows with the awful music and the too-serious hipster cast (it's on Cinemax, yo!).

If you can handle it, they're re-airing this season's ten episodes starting tonight (at 11pm Eastern Time). Emmy-winning it ain't, but it's a surprising amount of fun (and not just for the boobies).

If you don't want it to be a guilty pleasure watch the original british series Strike Back.

eta: i hadn't seen past the first season. Cinemax/Sky1 joint production now it seems. Hence the softcore addition. heh.
