Hi all,

I've managed to recover my free time and complete the next version of the NPC builder which has been sitting in beta for some time. It's up at the normal place http://www.meadicus.plus.com/craftygames/npc-builder.

Major changes since the last version
* Faster and more stable code base
* Fantasy Craft random name generator
* Spycraft 2.0 Threat-Level scaling

enjoy.

How well does this work if you download and try to run the page off of your computer?

You would need to download the .js and .css files (as well as any independant images) to make it work properly, but it should be doable.

I had a quick try saving the page from firefox but it didn't work, probably because of the way much of the javascript is dynamically loaded, and almost everything on the page is dynamically generated.

Internet Explorer has an option to save a 'complete page', which grabs all the images and may get things like CSS and JS files as well. That might be worth a try.

Not sure about this, but when I logged onto the NPC builder this morning, it gave me the stats for an NPC called Cylthus Duskfist. This isn't an NPC I've ever built (usually it has the last one *I've* done up there). Is it keeping the last set of stats entered into it for the next person to log on?

What? It really shouldn't be giving you someone else' NPC, and I don't think it possibly can, no information is stored server-side at all. I shall have to ponder on what could have happened.

You didn't use the random name generator and not take note of the name it randomly generated did you?  I have never seen it show stats for any NPC when I log in [aside from the default starting NPC worth about 10xp].

The NPC you're editing is stored as a cookie on your browser, and whenever you visit the site it loads the initial NPC content from this cookie. Only if you have cookies disabled would I expect you to see the same minimal NPC when visiting the site. But there is absolutely no means to load someone else's NPC, which would only be stored as a cookie on their browser.

Okay, I see what happened. What I've had show up is basically a hobgoblin (which my group was in the middle of fighting before our campaign stalled) that had a random named assigned when I looked to see if you had all the new class ability updates. I don't remember hitting the name button, though, but I must have.

I tried cutting and pasting an Earth Elemental today (from Conjure Elemental p123) and the 'OK' button wouldn't accept the write-up.  I had to go in and build it manually.

The same thing happened with Elder Elemental from the bestiary, but it did accept other cut and pastes fine.  I couldn't figure out what was different about those ones specifically.

I have an identical issue, but with the "Dog" entries. None of the three stock dogs will parse through the builder. Is there perhaps a small but important formatting difference in some of the book statblocks? If there is, I can't find it.

One issue I found was that there are a few NPCs with speeds that are an odd multiple of 5, which results in a .5 XP which is very hard to get rid of.
