I get why they did what they did, but it just seems to me like it's a little cliche. Black guy dies first, nerdy kid turns evil. Just once I'd like the lonely loser become the hero and the cool guy be the evil one.

I think it would have been cool as a story idea if the black guy was, while popular, forced to go through a "trial of fire" regarding his popularity and sticks to being the good guy. Maybe the antisocial nerdy guy is the first one to die. Although I did like the idea of the philosopher being the one who survived.

To me it made sense that the socially awkward guy was the one to head down that path. He was like the anti-Spider-Man (interesting that his first "kill" was perhaps a spider), Peter was that awkward kid socially, but he had good guardians that helped him stay on the right path. Psychologically, he couldn't rise above what life had dealt him. If he could, it would have been better, but the movie was good anyways. I never thought of Andrew as a nerd or a geek, just a kid who got dealt a crappy hand.

Neat!  Looking forward to April for this (and the ensuing desire to bust out my Mutants and Masterminds books and run it).

I really hate Cap's costume though.  I was a big fan of his final costume in Captain America, and this version looks just terrible - like it's some home made cosplay costume (possibly made of felt?), rather then military kit made by a group of super scientists.

EDIT: I also enjoyed Chronicle a whole lot, and agree with the discussion here.  I recommend seeing it for those that haven't had a chance yet.

I don't think it looks TOOO bad, will have to see it more in action before I render final judgement. Though the helmet does look a little goofy...
Thor's costume, on the other hand, rocks on toast. Looks like Tony's still using the same armor he had at the end of IM2. Not too sure about Clint's costume, and it's hard to disagree with Scarlette Johanson in that black catsuit...

The best moment in the new trailer, for me, is watching the Hulk punch a plane out of midair. It's hilariously awesome and awesomely hilarious.

Does he punch it? I thought it was more just that he blundered into its flightpath and then blithley kept going while it went boom.

I was a bit disappointed that the socially awkward loser was the one to turn evil, and the cool hip black guy was the first one to die. I mean the first part I guessed from the trailers, but I was really hoping it would be a fake out. I was also kinda hoping that the black guy's funeral would be a fake out too, and it would reveal instead that Andrew's mom had died while he was out having a pity party for himself.

Also, what happened to the blond chick? Did anyone else feel like she was supposed to have a bigger role but it was cut for time reasons?

After watching a video by Max Landis (one of the writers of "Chronicle") I fully get why the the kid didn't come back from the dead. If Landis has his way, Andrew would never come back as well if they do a sequel.

Thanks for the Chronicle recommendations! I'd been on the fence about seeing the movie but now I think I'll take Crafty_Erik up on his invite (he's wanted to see it since the first commercial).

The Avengers spot looks great. I'm kinda surprised we still haven't seen any more about the villains but the Hulk footage and that circle take around the team more than make up for it.

John Carter - Extended Spot: This flick looks better with every trailer.

Battleship: Still not sold on this one.

Act of Valor: One of the sites I frequent said they should have just popped for the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare license of this. I can't say I disagree.

Dr. Seuss' The Lorax: If nothing else, this has a great cast.

I wonder if they're going to tie Parker's parents to S.H.I.E.L.D. I know that different studios have different character rights, but that would still be a cool "name drop".
