That's why I was seeing it anyway.  Pity the IMAX near me doesn't seem to show these extra things that I hear about.  Upside is, I've managed to avoid all spoilers and set shots for Dark Knight rises so far, so I'm not sure if I want to see 6 minutes of it - make my first exposure the full film.

How could they do this to Tintin?

Hergé's comic-book hero is one of the great creations of the 20th century. Which makes Spielberg's film version little more than murder, says one lifelong Tintin fan

The writer of that article has some seriously unresolved issues (namely he may have been coddled too much by his mother or some other parent or older sibling).

I was able to enjoy the "Captain America" movie on its own merits even though I carried over 30 years of reading comic books featuring Captain America, The Avengers or The Invaders.

Has anyone here seen it?  Is it really that bad, or is this guy just mental?

It has yet to be released. He must have seen a sneak preview.

Since when has seeing a movie been a prerequisite for panning it?! Tongue

There may be a new BSG movie coming: Produced and possibly directed by Bryan Singer (who's wanted to take a crack at the material since before the TV remake), and scripted by John Orloff (Band of Brothers).

Want to see six minutes of the Dark Knight Rises? Go see Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. In IMAX.

Looks like it will only run in front of 70mm IMAX screenings, so be careful which theaters you consider if you want to see the Batman footage.

Not worrying about it, too much other stuff to concern myself with seeing it on an IMAX first...

In other news, saw the Three Musketeers film. The swordplay is actually really well done as is the acting. It takes a few liberties with the story but the principals are unchanged. In some parts you can see the characters spent Action Dice to accomplish stuff.

There is a flaw, as always, the tech level is unexplained in some cases and mean beyond the glaring elephant of airships which stretches the suspension of disbelief so far it snaps. It was in the previews so this is no surprise but what powers flamethrower? ... That could possibly exist in the 1600s.

However, the sets, costuming, stuntwork, actually mapwork even are all inspiring, the acting is solid (even the poor guy playing the young Louis XIII does a good job with the bumbling late teen role he is doing).

Overall for a good matinee romp of a film, it is enjoyable and good at a matinee price. Do not pay full price if you can afford to because you'll overpay.

I'm not sure if it will be shown anywhere down here, but I actually want to avoid the 6 minutes of Dark Knight Rises - I've managed to avoid most of the stuff floating around so far and hope to go in thoroughly unspoilt.

I saw it tonight with my Nana, who also enjoys crazy adventure romps, and agree with everything here.  It did look like the flamethrowers had large bellows attached that could blow the fuel over a pilot light.  Of course this would make them into a Blast / Pump / Blast / Pump (Load 1?) weapon, instead of the effective autofiring that the film had (though if it was Load 1 and since all the Musketeers demonstrated having Quick Draw... Wink).

Deciding if I should see Drive or In Time either tomorrow or Friday, anyone see either / both and have (non-spoiler) opinions or suggestions?

Really, Sir, I think that is too far....

Dumas is currently spinning in his grave.

"Good" acting aside, I fear there is no return from this level of Hollywood destruction. Why must all cinema-goers be treated like total morons requireing that everything must burst into flames, explode, or just generally be bigger than anything that has gone before.

This was the last straw with my cinema club, having been outvoted I will henceforth never return to the flicks with them again.
