I saw it with some friends, and we all enjoyed it.  Wolverine kinda nailed it though, but it was still good fun (especially with a bunch of mates who have all played that exact character several times in their roleplaying history).

Has anyone seen the new Conan movie?  The trailers have looked so good yet it is getting KILLED in the reviews.

Is it worth the price of admission or is one better off waiting for the DVD?

Thanks,
Seuss

It was dire! Don't waste your money.. totally disjointed film, with no plot (I know its an action movie, but you need some kinda plot) and characters that were brought in just to be put in harm's way. Oh and the BBEG was pitiful.

Should you see this movie, even on DVD. No.

I dug Conan, though not nearly as much as I'd hoped I would. It has one of the finest opening sequences of any heroic fantasy epic ever, and that continues through the first several scenes. After the first turning point though, it's going to depend a great deal on a) whether you're a die-hard fan of the books, unable to divorce them from the movie (because there are quite a few differences), and b) whether you want to like the movie. If you're able to let go of a few classic details (his eyes aren't blue, he speaks more, he swarthier, etc.), and you go in hoping for the best (and looking for it), you'll probably have a good time. That was my attitude, and as I say, I dug it.

British songstress Adele may be working on the new James Bond theme. She hinted as much in recent interview.

The Raid red band trailer: This is being compared to Hard-Boiled. From the footage in this (NSFW) trailer, I can see why.

Extraterrestrial trailer: The latest from Nacho Vigalondo (Timecrimes). This should be on your must watch list.

Not surprising. It's much cheaper than practical these days.

The problem is, the studio promised to use as much practical effects as possible. CGI dates really badly, and the only reason the original is still relevant is Rob Bottin's frankly fantastic practical effects.

It looks ok. I guess i'm just waiting to be disappointed.

You're not alone. This is the sentiment I'm seeing all over the interwebs.
