Without getting spoilery, did you have a fav part Pat?

Hard to pin one down, honestly. I loved the bookending, and the score was marvelous. The most surprising moments in the movie were certainly the cameos, though I think if I had to pin one moment down as the most effective I'd say the training montage. That was masterful. The opening sequence was stellar as well.

Sadly, not as much of America agreed as did with the original X-Men movies. Sad

Hopefully Fox will still man up and give this period another go.

Didn't it do about the same as the first X-Men film? Considering the lack of star power, that's a pretty solid opening. I'm hoping to see it this week. I'm hoping for a 70s style and perhaps a third in the 80s with the "Days of Future Past" storyline.

Problem is that a decade or so later, you need to figure for inflation. It did a little less and some in Hollywood are saying that a Wolverine-less film or sequel won't fly. I think it will and that they should continue the series just a few years later by setting it in 1965 and then a third in 1968 or 1970.

That should have been what they used to promote the movie instead of the dark 'Avenge' poster. Sure, viewers might be disappointed if Cap doesn't end up actually punching Hitler in the face, but it's still good.

Actually, there are rumors that scene may actually be in the flick.  Grin

Saw First Class tonight with some friends. I thought it was thoroughly meh. Taken out of any context  of other movies or comics it was decent for its own movie (though removing the context make a lot of the jokes fail), but taken in context of the other movies it falls short of its goal, and opens more plot holes than it closes...

It is supposed to be reboot so you should consider it standing by itself and not with the other X-films.

I'd buy the movie being a reboot if they hadn't....

I can look past those two items. The first was a cost saving measure in some regards.  Consider also that Bryan Singer was the producer and directed the first two X films. The second part was as much a nod to the previous films as to the fans. Plus it saved recasting time.

Well, consider that they kept Dame Julie Dench as M when they rebooted the Bond franchise with Casino Royale.

I certainly had no problem with that either.
