As much as I really have no interest whatsover in Fantasy Craft, I think it's a good move. I keep thinking of several people who went to Hackmaster because they came out right when DND went from 2nd to 3rd ed. Despite being a satire, Hackmaster was close enough to 2nd ed to make those players happy, and much of it's survival was becasue of that grroup, so I see crafty's product cashing in on the 'change is bad' contigent that will want to strike towards the familiar.

I like the fact that they are finding a home for all those LG players. This should help crafty recruit new blood.

I'm even more glad to herar that this isn't taking that much away from the stuff I give a **** about. Sounds like good all around.

Mostly though, I'd like to see the books I've been waiting for for months.

I actually brought up all of this at the monthly RPGA/Gaming meeting here in the Phoenix area. There was some solid excitement over it, especially about playing different races like centaurs. The Elf Talent from Signs & Portents went over very well and people wanted to see the dwarf as well. I had to blame Scotty for not showing to me but said the book plans to be out in the spring prior to 4E Players Handbook. I also mentioned what Gentry had said about Wyrmstone and how they are trying to see people will be able to port over a character of equivalent level from LG but rebuilt with FantasyCraft & Wyrmstone rules. There was some excitement about that as well.

Personally, I think WOTC has shot themselves in the foot with this but since Hasbro wants black ink not red on the books..... This change was known of over 2 years ago and is one of the reasons 2.0 was made.

Speaking of Gencon, did anyone see the trailer for the Dragonlance film? The production stills I've seen on the site for CGI being used are making me cry, and I'm curious if it really is that fugly.

I was actually thinking of the Mark Frost book as well when I wrote the post, but was not sure how well known the book was.  And to be honest, any Victorian-era game I run would end up more like Ruse, a comic book from CrossGen.

I like Ruse as well, though I lost track of it before it ended its run. Need to pick up the rest.
