Have no fear, you can jump for joy anyway.  Smiley

The reason you can jump for joy is that you can play a character in the Wyrmstone campaign at pretty much whatever level you desire.  It won't be part of your character ring, as with the end of LSpy as we know it, so will end the character rings.  But since Wyrmstone will allow for Unlimited Character options (see the thread relating to it elsewhere within this forum), you aren't going to *need* a character ring.

For more cheering moaning discussion on the end of character rings and the advent of the Unlimited Charaacter, see the other thread in the forums here.  Or check out the forums at wyrmstone.org, introduce youself out there, and discuss it to your heart's content there.

The plan has always been that they'll go live together.  In practice, though, I'd give it a month just to make sure the Wyrmstone ducks are in  row.  No more than that, though.

I'm sure there'll be an announcement once FC gets really close...

I'm just concerned about how much of a foothold LFR will have when it happens.

There's no real way around LFR, but that's not really a bad thing.  Once people try it, they may well dig both 4e and FC, and if so, bonus for everybody.

But we can certainly press the advantage. I know enough people in the Phoenix area who are already disenfranchised with 4E so they are ripe for grabbing on to, which I intend to do.

So two questions:

1. Will LG players be able to port over equivalent level for their characters?

2. Is the Wyrmstone world divided up into regions like LG was?

1) I can't recall The Final Word on this one.

2) If I recall correctly, regions will exist but will not be tied to real-life geographic regions... or something.

Was that helpful? Tongue

Discussion continues on the xp conversion.  At this moment in time, it looks like the "transfer your character's xp straight across and make a new FantasyCraft character at the appropriate FC level" is winning.  No guarantees that's how it'll end up, though.  You know how it goes.

The current thought on Wyrmstone regions goes like this:  If you've got a passion for some corner of the Wyrmstone world, write up a coherent proposal.  If it appears you've got the chops to actually do something coherent, then poof you're that area's coordinator.  In this way, a person can be the "coordinator" for places as small as a single city, or as nebulous as a single organization.

Ultimately, it's about removing layers of bureaucracy that have no meaning, no importance, and no place interfering with people's fun.  Any sort of "Triad" is first and foremost responsible for creating content and getting the game played, not encircling themselves with sycophants.  Smiley

So porting over the LSpy XP does not count then for creating an equivalent level character? .. If LG gets the conversion, then those of us who were loyal Crafty players should get something too since many LG players would be first time jumpers to the system

Thanks for the info on the regions...

The big paradigm shift here is that anybody can effectively create whatever level character they want.  The Unlimited character concept severs ties to xp totals--your character can exist at a variety of levels, and play at whatever TL you and the group at hand can agree on.

It'll need to have some details hammered out, to be sure, but the basic premise remains that if you and your table want to play at 20th level, then you can darn well go ahead and do it.  The only real restriction is that you need to have a character of the appropriate level ready at the beginning of the game--don't waste everyone's time making one up on the spot.

Severing the character from a running xp total is an enormous step in the direction of "story first" adventure modules, which the entire Spycraft system seems to be best at modeling.  And as long as the story's solid and everyone's hooting and hollering and laughing, who *cares* what level the game's happening at?

The obvious answer, of course, is the competitive LG crowd who need to be handed their syringe of Xp-heroin at the end of an adventure or they'll go into DTs.  The idea of transferring an xp total exists to give that type of player something to grab onto when making a transition into a new and different game/campaign.  Once they realize that they can create and play at any level, I would hope they'd free themselves from the papers & paychecks style of bookkeeping that mired LG.

And I'd like to have the faith that the Crafty fans'll see that up front.  Smiley

I agree all the way around ...

However, there will be people who've played in both campaigns that will want to convert all their characters over. If one set gets to go, then they both should be able to be converted based on XP.

Given this:

The big paradigm shift here is that anybody can effectively create whatever level character they want.  The Unlimited character concept severs ties to xp totals--your character can exist at a variety of levels, and play at whatever TL you and the group at hand can agree on.

Then any player can "convert" any character, from *any* previous Living campaign incarnation, by creating an Unlimited character with the old character's name on it.  If you want to create and play at a specific level, go ahead.  And give yourself a new level whenever you feel you deserve it.

Just play the game.  Hang out with friends and fellow enthusiasts.  Have fun.  And have it witout worrying over when you'll "earn" that next level so you can get that spiff new ability and *win*!

I understand that part of it. I was referring to Signature Characters specifically. Are any conversion being permitted directly into Signature Characters? ... If so, is it being allowed for all campaigns whether LG or those who had LSpy rings?

While it is of course still up in the air, the current answer is no, LSpy character ring conversion isn't currently in the works.  As much as Wyrmstone was *going* to be a slot on the ring, with the demise of the LSpy game, so goes the rings.

And with the advent of the Unlimited character concept, why is it important?
