For future reference, when reporting spam is it better to use this thread or the Report to Moderator option?

Generally, it's better to report spam directly. That immediately emails Alex and I, whereas we might not be on the forums when a problem user or post crops up.

More subtle than a motorcycle crashing through your front door is not actually an achievement.

Aplusmobi should be nipped in the bud before he/she/it can strike.

I wonder, if you put a clause in the EULA specifying these spammers owe you money -- say $100 -- for every ad they post, could you send them a legally enforcible demand for payment of a nominated value?

a minimum post count required to be met before you can hotlink in anyway on the forum. this includes signatures regular post or even a link in your profile.

Not sure if everyone's seen this update from Alex yet...

Hey all,

In an effort to curb some of the spam we've seen to date, I've been upgrading the forum today. Virtually nothing will have changed for the various honest dealers here on the forum, but we are in the process of declawing spammers so that means you'll notice some tweaks in these areas:

* Improved security - We made a jump of several releases today so hopefully we'll have better security measures.

* Stronger CAPTCHA/Anti-Bot - I'm still shopping for the new mod here, but expect it to be slightly harder to register for the boards.

* No HTML in signatures - The biggest change is all links and images in sigs have been deactivated. If you have one currently, good on ya - you can keep it. But if you change it or edit your signature, these will be removed. Sticking to text is good for everyone.

Thanks for your patience!

Hmm, looks like nomiburg has managed to get around the new no HTML in signatures rule.

maibaba also gets around the HTML signature block.
