Hey, first post on these forums but I've lurked for awhile. I'm super excited for the Mistborn RPG; like many others I'm sure, I've tried to make my own rules for the setting but haven't been able to figure out a way to do it. I'm really excited to see how the professionals do it.

Anyway, as you may or may not know, there's a new Mistborn short novel that Brandon Sanderson has written, called (I believe) 'Mistborn: Alloy of Law'. From what I've been able to read, it's coming out next fall, is set something like a century after HoA, and features among other things cadmium and bendalloy mistings.

I guess my question to you people at Crafty Games is whether or not we can expect rules in the RPG to cover cadmium and bendalloy, since they don't appear in the original trilogy of books. I don't know what time period the RPG is designed to cover, but if it is able to be set after the events of the books, then presumably those two additional metals (as well as the other metals that weren't shown in the books) would be available. The best estimate I've been able to find for the RPG release is Spring, which would be before the new novel, but from what I've read it looks like Sanderson may be working with you for detail and reference. So will these sorts of things be in the rules, would we have to wait for an expansion later on (after the new novel) or will we just have to homebrew stuff to work with the game?

We are indeed working with Brandon but the jury's still out as to whether AoL material will appear in the game. Best guess at this stage is that it would, but we're not quite ready to say for sure.

The RPG is currently slated to release next summer, after Spycraft Third and Ten Thousand Bullets.

Just to clarify, do you mean summer of 2011 or 2012?

Both! Last I heard, I think we were on something like fall or winter 2011 and I was already kind of anticipating some delay, with the coming of SC3 and 10kB and all. Anyway, that's great news!  Grin

(even if it maybe weren't news after all)

Just cause it's currently slated for summer of next year doesn't mean it will actually hit at that time (or whenever you imagine "summer" means) Smiley No crystal balls in the office - just semi-educated guesses Wink

Indeed. For Mr A., "next summer" might as well be sometime in the beginning of 2012. Grin

I used the term "currently slated" for a reason - it's what's on the calendar. Things happen though, and next year is a long ways away.

Lovin' it to death. Of course, I think summer's overrated.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread, courtesy of Brandon Sanderson and Crafty Games...
