The Orc Warlord from Races of Faerun

Ah. Don't have that one. Didn't quite cross my threshold of useful.

Quote
The Eye of Gruumsh from Complete Warrior.

Yeah, the Eye is not bad. Stuff at every level, some of it even useful. The Wild Swing is modestly useful. The ritual scarring is something you can manage by choosing one of the ork horde feats (Western Horde I think). I do like the command the horde ability of the Eye. Doesn't entirely cement their role as leaders, but at least it gives them a little bit of a teamwork oriented ability - which tend to be pretty rare in D&D. When you see the Horde (sub-race) species feats for the Orks, I think you'll be pleased - they specialize in very different styles of warfare. The 'uruk-hai' sub-race feat is neat because the bonus isn't what you'd expect (it's not a bonus to combat... directly), but everyone who has seen it has instantly identified that one as turning a stock Ork "black-blood" into a "Uruk".

I often examine the D&D classes to see if there is a concept there worth re-tooling. Boiling a 10 level D&D class down to a 5 level Spycraft Master Class has generated some really promising packages to use as the centerpiece of various organizations. The less interesting classes ussually evaporate down to being about a single feat in Spycraft terms - one good idea that did not need 3-10 levels wrapped around it.

The one nobody has mentioned thus far that I think would be a natural is the Channeler/Legendary Ork. Fear the great ork wardancer that rains down destruction on all who would oppose the Horde!

I am waiting...  Release NOW please  Grin

I'm wondering if the "necromancer" type/Legendary Ork might be fun, especially for someone like Gul'Dan.

As a D&D nut, fantasy nut really (I've played a lot of different systems), I find that the Spycraft system fits the bill for pretty well all the classes.   I love that Minotaurs & Gorgons & Centaurs are actually playable at level one.  That's the one major failing of non-Spycraft D20 in general.  The Level adjusted races are cool, but sometimes they give them so much that the character is utterly worthless, merely because of one class matchup.

What excites me is that Dwarves, Elves, and Orc(k)s are getting that treatment.  I saw glimpses of the Elves on the old forums, and the article...  I would actually play an elf, and this is coming from someone who plays Dwarves with a passion (I'm positively giddy with the thought of dwarves done up right).  The Legendary Ork makes me very happy, especially as a step forward in a race, and truly class development.

Thanks Morgenstern for the "boiling down" process that you use.  I'll be trying that soon...  as you are most accurate.

That's a point - if you get sniped at by a group of 4 enemies, then take them all out with an AoE spell, that's 4 bonus action die in one hit

This is totally awesome!

Thanks Smiley. I keep forgetting you guys haven't really seen many Master Classes yet. The ones in World on Fire and the World on Fire .pdfs are similarly mighty.

I'm having some unpleasant (to players) thoughts  Grin.

Um, honestly, your head is gonna go all asplodee when you see the hobbit one - its bizarre and nifty all at the same time. Those guys are at their best jumping down Sauron's throat and choking him to death with his own tonsils. Dwarves are a bit like bright mirrors to the ork's bloody march. Elves... well, lets just say a gamebreaker class ability named "1,000 Years" is pretty much any damn thing you want it to be...

The 5 levels of the Pech Master Class includes class abilities that say it all:
This is My Story
A Lively Tale
With Twists and Turns
And Narrow Escapes
But Every Word is True

Just remember - the dice go away at the end of the fight, so if you kill everybody on the first hit, there's no one around to use them on. It always pays to save at least one foe to toy with...

I'm just making a wild guess at what attribute modifiers orks get, but right now I'm looking at a stat line of Str 22, Con 18, Dex 16, Int 14, Wis 16, Cha 26 for a Legendary Ork/Avatar at level 20, assuming you grab Simply Irresistible, and are using Morg's new versions of feats in the Gorgeous tree.

I just finished touching up the Legendary Dwarf.

Yeah. I think it measures up to the Crafty Games mission statement for dwarves.

Best max vitality points class ability in the game.
Hands down.
Up to +100 vitality points.

Carlos would aprove Wink.

Did you include the bonuses while raging Grin?

Nope, this is base, prior to raging or Superhuman.  Wink
Edit: also, effective strength for strength based skills and encumbrance will be 37, if I recall correctly...don't have the conversion of Avatar with me.

Yet another nasty surprise the Legendary Ork brings to the table.

The Toughness feat is a must. When you rage, you'll gain extra vitality equal to your Cha mod for each time you've taken the feat via Stain the Soil.

I seem to have missed it; where is this Avatar class? And its conversion?

(Please be patient with me. I took up Spycraft at 2.0, so my knowledge of 1.0 supplements is frequently limited to the title.]

It's a psion class that's most obvious feature was growing 1-4 inches every level, well into the Large size category.

They're basically if you take the person, and then "turn them up to eleven".

They get a +3 to all six attributes over the course of 10 levels.
