Franklin swing across with practiced ease, although swinging around like this usually happens after he's fucked up somehow. This whole affair leaves him waiting for the other shoe to drop.

The party's buckles swashed, Alice bundled up the rope and rejoined everyone on the other side of the room.  "Shall we continue?"  She asked rhetorically before heading down the next section of cramped corridor.

Except that she forgot about Hondo, though he arrives at the ledge even as she decides to start reeling in the rope. Pretty impressive for a guy that size.

One by one, you quickly and quietly swing across the gaping engine room. When you finally gather on the far side of the cavernous chamber, Alice flies back up and fetches the rope, bringing it back to Frank who bundles it back up. Turning around, you all face the large, sturdy-looking bulkhead door labelled 'robotics'. Hondo, putting his back into it, turns the wheel in the middle of the door and pulls it open.

On the other side is a darkened chamber, illuminated by numerous computer displays and flashing LEDs in a variety of different colours. As you close the door behind you, the noise from the engine test-firing is suddenly blocked out, replaced by the whirr and hum of hard drives. Straight away you all hear a quiet babble of voices and a soft sobbing from somewhere deeper in the room, probably below you. However, before you have time to investigate, something very large  with a domed-head and flexible arms rolls into view. You are momentarily blinded by a bright flashlight beam as a metallic, monotone voice announces
"HALT. STATE. YOUR. IN-TEN-TIONS." The question is accompanied by the unmistakeable sound of an energy weapon of some sort powering up.

Hondo unslings the scientist and lets the body sag against him like the guy's really drunk. He then looks to Elsie with a 'you've got a story, right?' look.

Alice snuggled back against the door, bracing Lady Joan and taking aim at the brain casing, hoping Elsie and Hondo could weasel past the robot, Lady Joan's argument in favor of their presence, though persuasive, would be painfully loud.

Elsie shoots Hondo a foul glare, and then turns to the robot and says "Yes! *cough* I mean.. YES." After the cough her voice drops a full octave. "These VIPs are on a tour of the facility. Go about your business, guard... um... bot." With Hondo's help the unconscious guard flails an arm. "And good work!"

The brainbot pauses for a moment, processing the response. Then, very quickly, it switches off the flashlight, lowers its arms and rolls backwards several feet. "THANK. YOU. HAVE A NICE DAY." It turns on the spot and abruptly rolls away, arms swaying pendulously at its sides. As it disappears around a bank of computers, in the half-light you notice several other robots of the same type going back about their business tending the pulsing computer banks.

Franklin, who had thought that this was going to be when the other shoe dropped, stares slackjawed for a moment, surprise written all over his face. "I can't believe that actually worked..."

Alice sagged and slumped onto the floor, Lady Joan across her splayed legs. "Whoooo.  Nice job Elsie."  She sat there a moment, then cocked her head. "Is that someone crying?"

Hondo keeps Bernie the scientist slung against him haphazardly, just in case. "It sound like it's further on and down. Think there's a balcony or some shit like that?" he murmurs.

"Maybe you should check it out, Alice. You're the quiet one. Just don't start shootin' shit. Yet."

"We don't need to be quiet.  Securo-fail-tron there thinks Bernie," she pointed to the unconcious scientist, "is taking us on the special tour.  Maybe we should look for the master panel so I can convince every 'bot in the joint that we are their true masters."   Grin

"Cool," says Hondo, recalling Alice's original reason for dragging everybody in here in the first place. "How long you think it'll take?"
