Greenwood's writing has given me ulcers and an undying dislike of Forgotten Realms before Salvatore became a thing. It seemed to me like generic fantasy setting 2.0. I actually liked Dragonlance more because of Minotaurs, Gully Dwarves, and Kender, and the fact that dragons felt a bit more...  well, dragon'y.

Agreed

The bottom line with Forgotten Realms, is that it just doesn't inspire me at all.

Not wanting to start another thread, and seeing as it's somewhat related, I'll ask here.

I have two questions, both concerning Dragonlance and Forgotten Realms 3.5. It occurred to me that it might be a lot easier to use the conversion guide in FC to convert either Forgotten Realms or Dragonlance 3.5, and I'd also get to know the rules that much better as well, in doing so.

My  questions, how has Dragonlance 3.5 and Forgotten Realms 3.5 changed since their 2ed as far as story/fluff goes?

For example, if I'd asked the question about Forgotten Realms 1st and 2ed, the big one is that the gods have walked the earth, some have died, new ones have taken their place, and magic is now unpredictable.

So what's changed, and in your opinion, has it made the game better, not so good, or just different?

Thanks very much for any input

What's changed in FR? Other than the Gods walking the Realms, now Gods have to be beholden to their followers and not treat them like "ants".

The Shadowvar have returned. One of the cities of ancient Netheril shifted into the Plane of Shadow - and now they're back. So imagine a city of archmages that are also Shades. Yeah with Fantasy Craft - it would be awesome. Their city is in the Anauroch Desert.

Mulhorand is rising in power again.

Beyond that - hijinks with the Drow as usual. Nothing that prevents you to using Fantasy Craft.

As for me - I'm planning on doing Fantasy Craft: Darksun! YEAH BABY!

I'm in two games that are both using the Sunchasers settings and we're enjoying it quite well.
