Okay.  Here's my whole idea.  Alien race of baddies take over Earth.  They set up shop, treat mankind like a civil-slave race.  Life is tolerable, but at the end of the day, you understand you're a slave.

My players will be in charge of Resistance and taking back the planet.  Now, I love the Spycraft 2.0 rules, however, a player (or two) wants to meld in some character classes from D20 Modern/Arcana (WOTC).  Now, I expect some "GC work", but has anyone tried to mesh the two?  Are there any foresee-able issues?

I did a quick, albeit, very quick forum search and didn't find anything related.  If this has already been addressed, just pop the link.  But, I didn't find it in my basic search.

Due to the very different systems, trying to convert character classes from d20 Modern is...difficult, at best. The best general advice is to look for Spycraft classes that do what he wants and use them.

What specifically does he want? I know we've got a couple of build experts here, so we can probably point you in the right direction.

The PDF Back to Basics has Spycraftized d20 Modern Base classes. Honestly, if your players want the power level hit that comes with using inferior product, go ahead and let them. Magic/psionics might break things a bit though, so be wary about that.

There is the Back to Basics where you have the d20 Modern basic classes made to work in Spycraft.

Doh! Gatac and Agent 333 got first.

Egads you boys are blazingly fast.  Let me grab my notes really quick.

Guy 1.  Martial Artist.  I pointed out Raptor, but he wanted a more "kung-fu" feeling that D20 Modern apparently gave.  (I know Ninja is in WoF, but doesn't help me quite yet.)
Girl 1.  Women.. always the difficult ones.  *hides that statement from wife*  A tracer from D20 Future.  Essentially, a Bounty Hunter.  That one I couldn't find a way to slap together a build for.  Anyone who has any ideas?

The Martial Artist class appears in World on Fire, but fortunately for us all a complete preview of this class was in the last Signs & Portents (or was it the previous one?) a free pdf magazine from mongoose publishing. That should go a long way to keeping your player happy.

1) There's a Martial Artist base class in World on Fire. There's a five-level preview on the Living Spycraft site, and a full (20 level) preview of the class in the latest Signs & Portents, over at Mongoose Publishing. Trust me, he'll love that one.

2) A bounty hunter? Start with the Sleuth as base class, go to Field Analyst as expert class. Decent combat ability, second to none in Manhunting the bad guys. Alternatively, for more focus on the actual "bring him in" part when you know where the guy is, go Scout. Despite their nature flavor, they're also good in the urban jungle, and they are really good at combat, especially when they can set up ambushes. Mix with Tracking Basics / Mastery for better tracking, and use one of the ways to give him Investigation as "Always a Class Skill", which brings him up to speed in the Manhunt part.

This Preview Page, might help. You've got 5 levels of martial artist in that preview, which should be enough. Bounty Hunter can be made very easily with a combination of Sleuth/Soldier or maybe even Explorer. A totally kung-fu soldier is entirely possible, just choose the right origin, combine it with good flavorful feat choices and you're off to the races.

What level are you starting at? Because everyone in Modern has to start off as Stong/Fast/Smart etc. for at least 3 levels and in any case back-to-basics has generic ala modern classes for Spycraft (as previously mentioned).

eta: help comes fast and furious on these boards so, here's the link to the Signs and Portents issue with the complete Martial Artist preview...Signs and Portents 46

Starting at lvl 1 or 2.  Possibly 2.  Just to give me a little wiggle room in case someone does something stupid.  (You know, the player who always has a tendency to slap the FBI agent in the face as he's surrounded by a black ops team...)

The Martial Artist in WoF is simply Fun.  I can't wait for that sourcebook.  So that's solved, as for the Bounty Hunter build, I'll look over the suggestion.  Thanks for the tips!

The Bounty Hunter build really needs to be clarified a bit. It could mean anything from a guy that does all the searching then just points the cops at the right spot all the way to Boba Fett level 'uber-assassin' that many Star Wars fanboys give to Bounty Hunters. So, what kind of bounty hunter is your opponent player looking to play?

Agent333, Good call.

Okay.  Her idea is...  *ahems*

A character who can track down, locate, and if needed, eliminate a target that would either advance or hinder their resistance movement.  Also, be able to hunt & recover any resistance members who are captured / lost / compromised.

*Edited to add second sentence*

Start with Scout... even better make her a Fit Hunter Scout so she gets a 40' move to start with and then take Talented (Private Eye) to get Investigation & Security as Class Skills. Take her Hunter Terrain feat as Urban Training. Make her 1st level feat either Night Training, Always Get Your Man or Candidate.

How does she plan to do her tracking?  Is she more into using electronics like computers and tracing devices?  Or is she more into talking to people to get the low-down?
