Live from Monster Island’s Toho Research Facility

Interactive Map

The camera cuts to a man in his forties with a mop of messy dark hair that is graying at the temples. He looks bored and annoyed, and has a cigarette drooping out of the corner of his mouth.

“I can’t believe they sent me to Monster-friggin-Island. Why don’t they just… what?”

A voice off-camera says something indistinct and he suddenly looks panicked. He snatches the cigarette out of his mouth and quickly regains his composure.

“You join super-reporter Jun Muramoto, broadcasting live from high above the Toho Corporation’s Monster Island research facility. Several Kaiju have been spotted in the area, and the company’s researchers have their recording equipment active. A huge grey figure has been spotted out to sea, walking in this direction and I think… yeah, there he is. He sighs. “No, over THERE. Baka.”

The camera hurriedly turns to point out to sea, focusing on a huge metal giant, slowly wading inland. Its armor-plating is streaked with rust, and it holds a gigantic lantern in one hand and a baton the length of a city bus in the other.

“It’s the Grey Sentinel, and it’s here for something. Look at the purpose in his stride.”

He doesn’t sound happy to be here at all. He puts a hand up to his earpiece, nodding, and points past the camera. It turns to pick up a huge figure as it blots out the sun, and a horrid jarring buzzing sound is heard over the mic.

“And there’s the Sentinel’s opponent! Hornetor the… ‘sting of doom’?” He sigh and mutters. “The ‘experts’ in the facility below say that this fierce Kaiju has a vicious sting, but will it help against the clockwork might of the Grey Sentinel? Stay with us to see.

Question on scale, since the map uses 10' squares are our measurements in feet or 5' squares or 10' squares?  In other words, my creature is listed as 50x20  is that 50'x20' (5x2 squares) or 250'x100' (50x20 5'squares or 500'x200' (50x20 10' squares) or something else completely?

Hornetor, spying movement beyond the human hives, flies forward to investigate, the single enormous insect's wings buzzing loudly, drowning out the miniscule sounds of the tiny helicopter.

"Ok, so is the big guy gonna do anything? Are we back from commercials yet?" The camera nods. He sighs. "Welcome back. The Grey Sentinel is trudging ponderously forward toward Hornetor, but as he closes the distance, the giant insect takes to the skies, climbing far out of reach..."

OOC: Eh, at this scale, it's essentially just a small rock, surely? The problem is that the syatem breaks rather badly at this scale. I'd suggest taking all the various size M centric measurements for weapon  range and action effects and multiply them by the Size wound multiplier

I'll stat it as a large rock - it does weigh 2 tons...

5d10 lethal, 1/20, 50 ft. x2, massive

Hows that?

Cinematically speaking, i'd be tempted to have it explode on a critical threat, and have it do explosive damage...

So... we started 435 feet apart, he moved 30 ft, I moved 320 ft minus the amount to gain altitude, so about 200 ft.  We should now be about 205 feet apart, -8 for range?

I bow to your math skill. Essentially the car will land 100 ft. short. Update to follow as soon as Hornetor acts.

Hornetor buzzes angrily as the gray figure below picks up a nearby object and throws it at him.  He flies forward, darting erratically from side to side at random intervals.

"Wow! The Sentinel just threw a jeep at Hornetor! Look at those Toho technicians run - I sure hope no-one was in that thing."

A grating buzzing noise fills the speakers as Super Reporter Muramoto is blocked out. He holds the mike closer to his mouth and shouts.

"It might only have been a warning shot, but he's definately got Hornetor's attention - here he comes.... and there goes my life insurance..."
