Paiter is quiet a moment more trying to be sure "...Sounds like there is nothing moving behind here. Maybe I can watch this door if you want to get closer to the others. A fierce red statue carved by demon worshipers in forgotten ruins...hmmm..."

"Heh.  I don't think I'd be happy wandering off and leaving you here either, in case something demonic did come through that door.  But if we hear the others get into any trouble, we should definitely head off and help them; not much use standing around here."

Wincing at the noise, Divia carefully lowers herself back to the tunnel floor and indicates the others should move away from the hole, back to the opening revealing the statue of the beautiful angry woman.

"Ordinarily I might take you up on that offer," she says in a hushed voice. "But there are 2 things. First, it seems we're underneath some sort of very old holding pen. The second is that there's something up there. It could be benign, but the chances are probably good that its more of that thing we killed. Maybe there's some sort of magic still in place that's stopping the, what was it the journal said, the quassit and its creatures from passing out of here that Tsuto was meant to lower, but that hole isn't fresh. My guess is that it probably got out of where its mistress was keeping it by accident and has been wandering around ever since."

She shrugs. "Of course, I could be wrong and those things are guards and it was something else that escaped. But in either case, avoiding that area for now looks like a good idea."

Ok, so in that room there's the angry woman holding the expensive pole arm, and exits to the north, east, and south.

Shyla warily eyes the statue, then looks to Divia, "Should we keep heading north?" she asks, thumbing in the direction of the northward (door?Passage?)

"Given north probably leads straight to that holding area, I say we avoid that direction for now." She casts her glance around, but it keeps flickering back to the statue of the angry beauty. "East, who knows? South at a guess takes us back to the door the others are at. Given the rubble, it looks like someone broke down a wall and where we are now is the intended entry point. Which means this well armed statue could be some sort of warden like in the old stories, ensorcerelled to attack the wrong people crossing the threshold. So we should head back to the door and enter that way."

Meanwhile, Paiter steps back 10' from the door and arms his cutlass and dart again.

OK,

So you go back to the storage room and go throughout the door. The corridor runs ten feet then turns left and goes another twenty-five before turning right. Ahead you can seen the entryway, and another hallways goes off the right.

OOC: Presumably the scouting party reported what they found. As the one in the lead Divia is going to take that corridor to the right rather than tempt fate by approaching the statue, reasoning that the corridor leads to what whomever breached the store room was trying to get to without passing the statue themselves in the first place

Argan is eager to suspend guard duties and get a move on down the tunnel.  However, he regards the statue with interest in passing.

Paiter sticks close to Argan "In my travels I heard of many walking idols, I wonder if that statue will come for us when we enter the complex proper, no matter where we enter..."
