Since Argan is right by the door. Paiter figures the room is safe enough so he comes in and pokes around in the pottery with his cutlass.

The door opens away from you. This appears to have been a storage room, so that makes sense. It doesn't seem like it's seen much use anytime within your lifespans though.

Heading North, you find another branch. The passage continues north, ending below a hole in the ceiling. To the east there's a small room.

In the center of it is a red marble statue of a strikingly beautiful woman, her features monstrously twisted by rage. Haldar, Divia, and Shyla feel something straining to break free when they look at her. She's dressed in flowing robes, and her long hair is held back from her face by an intricate headdress of hooks and blades. Her left hand holds a large book inscribed with a Thassilonian seven-pointed star. Her right hand holds a glittering  metal and ivory polearm.

The room has a door to the north, and corridors to the east and south.

Well, assuming you walk up to the hole, not much. There's a ceiling, something that might be bars.

Does the grate look like it's been used recently?

Divia mutters almost inaudibly "This deal is getting worse all the time."

Putting her bow aside, she pulls out her knife. "Give me a boost up," she whispers, pointing towards the grate before clenching the blade between her teeth.

Ah... I see the issue.

There's no bars in the hole. The bars are the northern wall of the room the hole opens into.

Well, might as well keep going with sneaking a peak through the hole anyway.
