Paiter to his fellow ex-passenger Haldar: “I think I stepped over the line earlier, he’s always so damn noble and generous when he is p*ssed. Now about those too many ales, I need to get an early start so I can sleep it off for an early start…”

Paiter's comment brings Haldar's attention back to the present.  "Aye," he replies, slightly bemused, "He reminds me of my uncle Thelden.  Kept his temper hidden away in company, but when he got you alone, the thrashing he could give was epic."

Paiter looks thoughtful for a moment "...Yes, that sounds like Weoxgyld. I sometimes fear he has been bottled up in his father's hall with his goats and dusty scrolls too long, somewhere out there someone has a truly epic thrashing in his future"

Paiter is momentarily distracted by a young woman in the crowd but thinks nothing of it and soon forgets her. His sits by Haldar and begins to get stuck into the ale

Teo enjoys the food, but like any good student, thrives on coffee. He takes particular delight in the spiced coffee he has with dessert.

Weoxgyld “Kendra Deverin, Mayor. Well met. I bring a welcome from the my people and my father the King for I am Ve-oaks-gild, son of Weoxhrothsten, son of Weoxhroth. Your town is under my protection” Though he is trying to make a good impression his tone and deliberate careful pronunciation of his name is somewhat patronising. The differences between cultures may prove problematic if Kendra thinks Weoxgyld is implying he is taking over!
He grabs a coffee with cardamom from a passing tray and awaits the mayor’s reply.

Once you finish eating and just as you begin to contemplate what come next, several things happen at once.

A clap of thunder comes from the Priest of Desna at the podium.

Divia, Annie, and Shyla hear a pained yelp and see something short, skittering and dark weaving through the crowd before ducking under a table. In it's wake, you see a dog whining weakly in pain, it’s blood washing over the square's cobbles. Unless Mr A describes otherwise, Annie starts screaming.

(click to show/hide)

Teo, Alden, Aden, Argan, Halder, and the wolf hear the screaming, then see something skitter out from under a table, and come to a screeching halt as it all but runs into the wolf (who I’m going to assume begins snarling). It’s a goblin carrying a crude short sword dripping blood.

Paiter all but faceplams as Weox puts his foot in his mouth with the dignitaries of town. He looks down as he feels something snatch his tankard away, to find another of the little vermin drinking the excellent ale. Well, it’s mostly pouring it all over it’s face and chest and some is finding it’s way into it’s mouth as much by accident as by design.

Then the screaming - human (and elven, dwarven, pech, saurian, etc), equine, and canine - starts, along with high pitched chattering giggles, and a chant starts up.

A guard yells "Goblirrrgh...." and collapses, the goblin on his back jabbing it's blade into him over and over, giggling like a maniac. The Sheriff tells the Madame (who has produced a pair of ornate, wicked looking knives from... somewhere) to get the mayor to safety as he unlimbers the claymore across his back. He and Sir Jasper head toward the worst of the fighting, while the mayor, producer, and madame head for the town garrison.

The next thing any one knows, there are goblins everywhere, cutting, giggling, chanting, waving torches.

Shyla casually continues to eat her meal, ignoring the dog's yelp and she doesn't even blink when the creature skitters past her to hide under a nearby table. As the situation spirals into chaos, the goblins swarming into the square, chanting their disturbing little song, Shyla still remains unphased. She finishes her tea and looks with an annoyed grimace towards the fleeing crowd and the guards' attempts to engage the goblins. "Not even worth the effort..." Shyla mutters to herself.

Tilting her head to the side, the joints her her neck popping audibly, Shyla steps away from the building where she she at been enjoying a more satisfying meal than the hardtack she had been choking down the past month. She strides purposefully towards the nearest goblin, uncaring if it sees her coming, adjusting her hat, coat, and tightening the wraps on her hands as she approaches it. Once she comes within reach she lashes out with a vicious kick towards the gibbering creature's head.

Haldar lets out a growl to rival the wolf's as the goblin reels to a halt right in front of Víđrökkr.  The lanky barbarian readies his spear and stabs at the little pest uttering an oath in his native tongue while the wolf snaps viciously at its ankles.

Caught off guard by the sudden chaos Eloise is soon on her feet, sword in hand, the swordplay lessons she was forced to endure as a girl reluctantly surfacing.

Paiter looks back and forth rapidly taking in the thunderclap, dog and goblins then makes for the safest possible place, he runs towards his employer.
(click to show/hide)

On seeing the dog and the skittering shapes Weoxgyld steps to interpose himself between the mayor and the danger. He begins to bellow “Who are you that would …” then when the guard goes down with a dog chopper in his back, the giant bristles, the air around him gains a charge like still air before the thunderstorm. His fingers instinctively begin to trace the air static charge arcing between them. “You dare...” and his words are filled with thick foreign vowels then lost in a roar of primal anger that brings forth a blast of freezing air

OOC: I'm putting Argan's first action into spoilers, so as not to mess with decisions of those ahead of him in initiative:

Teo stands and draws his sword. He turns to the nearest goblin, brandishes his sword, and yells: "To Victory! To the Heart!"

The Taldan noblewoman stands, a falcata appearing in her hand as she drops into a ready position, sword pointed at Goblin 3, her lip curled in disgust and her eyes aflame with fury.

The goblin looks at her for a moment, fear coloring it's expression. It then recovers and gives her a rude gesture.

(click to show/hide)

Haldar stabs at Goblin 2 with his spear, his weapon's wide head almost removing the goblin's head.

(click to show/hide)

Goblin 11 roars (well, for a goblin) and runs up to Haldar, swinging wildly at him and narrowly missing

(click to show/hide)

Shyla walks, non-chalantly, up to Goblin 1 and punts it like... well... a goblin. It squeals in pain, but doesn't go down, shaking it's head to clear the stars.

(click to show/hide)

Volokkor growls and leaps at goblin attacking his pack leader (#11). The goblin narrowly avoids his first attack, but on the second he knocks it down and rips it's throat out, shaking it's head to get the foul taste from it's mouth.

(click to show/hide)

Goblin 2 is dead.

Goblins 9 and 10 swarm Alden, chittering, giggling, and stabbing. And stabbing. And stabbing. He dodges or blocks most, taking the rest on his armor.

(click to show/hide)

Weox roars, his voice rattling windows as he gestures and a cold blast of air washes over Goblin 4. It cowers in fear, shaking first in terror, then from the cold, and then not at all as it freezes solid.

(click to show/hide)

Goblins 6, 5, and 7 swarm Argan. He gets a solid hit in during their attacks, but the three goblins press him hard.

(click to show/hide)

Teo calls out his battle cry and Goblin 9 panics, dropping it's dogslicer and running away in terror.

(click to show/hide)

Goblin 10 attacks Alden, it's swing glancing off his armor.

(click to show/hide)

Goblin 4 is dead.

Goblin 1 leers at Shyla and attacks, but it's attacks go wild.

{Divia goes here.}

The sudden thunderclap all but makes Divia drop her second bowl of stew before she's even half way through it. She looks up with a mix of irritation and concern to determine what's happening, in time for Annie to point the opposite way. "What's that?"

Divia's head snaps around just in time to see the goblin attack the unfortunate canine, and this time she does drop her bowl as she bolts upright.

"What's it doing?" Annie asks. "What's all that red stuff? I don't like it Divia. Make it stop. Make it stop."

Seeing that the women who had been sitting near them is getting up to do just that, Divia scoops her ward up into her arms and ducks between two of the stalls that back onto a single storey building. Once there, she boosts Annie up onto the roof. "Go to the other side and stay there!" she orders. "And if any of those little monsters come after you, blow your whistle just as hard as you can, alright sweetie?"

"Yes, Divia" she nods, beginning to look confused by all the chaos, then clambers across to the other side of the roof.

Divia gets Annie to safety.

Argan 'uppercuts Goblin 5 and then swings his massive fist at Goblin 6. This first goes wide and the second connects, ringing the goblin's bell.

(click to show/hide)

Goblins 5, 6, and 7 swarm Argan again, wearing down his defenses.

(click to show/hide)

Annie scrambles up and over the roof's ridgeline,

Goblin 8 moves behind Divia, giggling as it stabs her in the back. Well, tries to stab her in the back. It misses, flying past Divia

(click to show/hide)

Goblin 3 moves behind Shyla and swarms her with Goblin 1, but even working together she all but ignores their clumsy attacks.

(click to show/hide)

Alden manages to draw his sword and pick up his shield.

Paiter looks around, draws his sword and hurries over to Weox.

(click to show/hide)

Goblin 5 and his compatriots swarm Argan. He fends them off this time, but he's all out of tricks. Just when he thinks it's over, one of the goblin's attacks sneak past his guard and bites home, drawing blood.

(click to show/hide)

The goblins hesitate, seeing their losses piling up.

Shyla frowns in annoyance as her kick fails to drop the little creep in one shot. The creature retaliates and is joined by one of it's fellows. The unrefined swings of the goblins are simple enough for Shyla to dodge and avoid, but she's starting to get annoyed. Shyla draws her longsword and casually slashes at the goblin she had struck with her boot, like she was cutting wheat.
