My understanding is that it is highly precise.
In a giant fantasy scorpion, well whichever you want is feasible.

Yeah, you're already ignoring physics, chemistry, and biology making giant insects and arthropods, so give them whatever you want.  Smiley

True, but actually researching some of the real animals gave me ideas I wouldn't have otherwise had.

Alright, I gave a shot at coming up with a Limited Tremorsense quality.  Probably needs to be worded better, but I think anyone reading it can get the general point.

Giant Scorpion: [7]
Small Beast [-2]
Con +2, Int -2 [1]
Cold Blooded [-0.5]
Aloof [-0.5]
Enlightened Sneak [1]
grappler [0.5]
thick hide 2 [1]
+4 sight-related Awareness and Perception [0.5]
impaired sense (hearing, scent) [-1]
Always ready [2]
superior climber I [0.5]
Squeeze I [1]
Sting I (venomous — weakening poison) [2]
Limited Tremorsense: You are aware of the presence and general location of any moving object touching the same surface you are on.  However the target(s) still retain any bonuses, and you take all penalties, for the hidden or invisible conditions. [1.5]

With regards to the Sheep, you could give them the Cute and Cuddly feat in place of a couple of their sillier abilities (Thick Hide was always a stretch) to rebalance their points cost.

Good point.  That and Cameoflage (arctic).

EDIT: Taking away those two still leaves 1 point left even with the feat.  The two possibilities are a natural attack, or Improved Sense (hearing) (Wikipedia says they have good hearing and are sensitive to noise).  I'm personally inclined to go with the latter,  just because not many Beast come out of this process without a natural weapon and it would be an interesting variant.

Could I place a request?

I'd like to see what a Mouse Origin would look like.

... and maybe a Weasel Origin also?

Ever since pratchet I have fondness for magic mice, you know regular rodents who have eaten too muchin the wizards kitchen or been in an alchemists lab. If you build it I have fluff...
Also see my recent posts on scale for one way of pricing the wounds of smaller than Small.

Yeah I'm actually considering using Fantasy Craft to play Mouse Guard; my group definitely wants to play mice with swords - but I've found that I just didn't enjoy running the Mouse Guard RPG, so I'm considering trying w/ FC instead.

But I'm still too new to the system to confidently create new Mouse and Weasel origin/species.

I'm also not sure whether I should set Size relative to mice rather than humans.  (the only 'heroic'/playable species would be: Mouse, and possibly Weasel)

I see the pricing for wounds, but what about combat modifiers?

Something you may want to consider for something like a Mouse Guard RPG is also 'resetting' the Size scales to incorporate mice as the norm. If everyone's going to be playing mice and weasels, then maybe mice should be Small, weasels Large, change the encumbrance and weights from pounds to ounces. Something along those lines so that wound points aren't so very, very scarce

Didn't do the combat modifiers. THe wound modifiers are a spin of from work on big Sizes. I'd suggest +1Def=1pt but you've been doing this longer than me.  Smiley

Considering that Small is 0 points on the current wiki +1 Def = 1 point seems to work in that direction.  Let's try it for the rest of the smalls:

Wounds Pnts   Def     Final
1/8        -3      +16   +13
¼         -2.5    +8     +5.5
1/3        -2      +4     +2
½         -1.5    +2     + 0.5
2/3         -1     +1      0

Unfortunately, though, it doesn't work in the other direction:

Wounds Pnts   Def     Final
1.5         1      -1        0
2            3      -2        1
3            6      -4        2
4            9      -8        1
5           12     -16      -4
6           15     -32     -17

Possibly a Defense penalty isn't worth full points.  However the problem is that anything over 0 causes Large size to be worth less than 1 point, which isn't the case according to the wiki.

Hm, I don't know.

My best guess:

Wounds  Pts               Def  Pts              Final
x1.51-101
x23-2-12
x36-4-24
x49-8-45
x512-16-84
x615-32-16-1

Gets a bit squiffy past gargantuan, but I think the first three are reasonably solid.  My theory is that maybe the magnitude of the bonus has an impact - if +2 is worth 1pt, then maybe +4 is worth 1.5pts.  Just something to ponder.

EDIT: For clarity

I'm assuming you mean those values under "Def" are the point price values?
