An older gentleman in the back walks forward.  Wearing jodhpurs and carrying a riding crop the gray haired man he is the epitome of the English gentleman, which impression is strengthened as he speaks.

"Mr. Justice first I am deeply saddened by your loss and wish to convey my deepest sympathies."

The gentleman quietly speaks to himself, "perhaps if I had arrived sooner..."

Shaking his head he continues more loudly. "But regretting the past is no way for a man to live.  Your father approached me about joining this group to oppose tyranny and injustice.  He was a great man and I believe in his calling.  Your father spoke of spies within this country and that they needed to be dealt with before his plan to extend Public Liberty to the world.  I would like to see Liberty to come my native Britain and if the minds behind your fathers death need to be brought down before that can happen I would be honored to help in that matter."

He looks over the others gathered here.  "While my own skills are of more value hunting in the Indian jungle or the Kalahari, I may have some acquaintances that will help us in the current situation.  I know my way around a firearm and since we may need to split up as others have suggested I can go with either group."

"The name is Major Reginald Halifax, British Army Retired.  Since you seem to all be using codenames you may call me Long Iron,  it has been some time since my old regiment called me that it will be nice to be part of a team again.  I have my own special "iron" but if any of you have need of others I offer my expecience in selecting a proper implement."  Turning to Arsenal, "now show me what you have in the way of protective gear."

OOC: I forgot to bring my book to work, so some gear questions will get answered later...meanwhile story questions i can do.

I can tell you the a driver is fine..though I don't think he'll have minion. He'll just be a standard npc. The radios are fine. Radios will be clunky hand held things weighing about 5 lbs. Their range will be severely limited in the city, and they aren't terribly secure, but very few other people have recievers that would pick it up. Other more specific gear questions (like what to do about electronic picks) will wait until I have the book.

Here's what I understand to be going on. Not much is resolved here. I mostly make sure i understand what you are doing, and share die rolls to give an oppurtunity for other people to chip in, and for you to use AD if you like. I'll give a few hours for people to respond, or assume things will stand as they are.

Arsenal:

Arsenal leaves to make a phone call, and chats with some military friends. During a conversation with a military friend he is told in the course of conversation:

White Rose looks over the list of mobsters, a few names chilling her somewhat. She'll need to decide who to pursue.
(click to show/hide)

Shepherd goes undercover as a detective, questioning the peole who were in the buidling, and gaining access to the security tapes.
(click to show/hide)

Chronicle grabs some dossiers and starts flipping through, looking for clues. He spends time looking at names and reports.
(click to show/hide)

Liberty, Long Iron, Stitch, and Enigma watch to see where people are going, and try to decide where they will be useful.

Is that about right?

Arsenal saunters over to White Rose and eyes the weapons she's picked out.

"Looks like you're all set for burnin' powder. How about some backup?"

I'm leaving for a destination I still don't know

"Indeed," Liberty agrees with Rose. "I should be able to provide us with transport to our destination - there are many weak minded individuals who are capable of supplying aid to the Daughter of the Dragon without realising they do so."

"I usually work, but my gut tells me I'll need backup for this. Thanks," White Rose acknowledged, as she thumbed a pair of shells into the shotgun, and set it down next to the scoped rifle.

"Ghost is our man. We find him, we find the answers we want," she then told Liberty and Arsenal. "Call it instinct, but I know he has our answers. Unfortunately, his very nature will make finding him difficult."

OOC: Rose will use the extra weapons pick to take four JHP loads and two AP loads for her Colts.

Electronics picks will be severely limited, applying mostly to radios, both tactical and base units. It can also apply to what would be modern day common items, recording equipment, transmitting equipment, and the like. Recodings to reel to reel tape for example do exist, but they are not portable. It can be applied to 'computer access' which is to say rights to peruse the data base of Liberty's super computer.
The computer is the 5th floor of the builiding. It is the largest most effecient of it's time. It houses a host of information in it's database about crimnals nationally and internationally, is capable of processing data amazingly fast, and has access to an encyclopedia of information about other topics. Obviusly, this computer is not portable, nor directly accesible from remote locations, but you may ask people to retrieve information for you with this level 2 pick.

About the only 'portable' option is radios which as I mentioned earlier, are about 2 feet long, 8 inches wide, and weigh about 12 lbs.
There are no caliber 4 or 5 electronic picks available from this agency.

Arsenal, Firestar and White Rose decide to try to move into mob circles, White Rose suggesting they focus on Ghost.

White Rose has long suspected a man named Phil Shepton as being someone who answers to ghost. He appears to be the owner of several blues club, but some of those clubs are often hotbeds for organized activity belonging to ghost.
Rose of course knows where to find several lower level bookies and such who no doubt work for ghost, at least indirectly, though they may not have much high level information.

Quote from: OOCish
No matter which mob family you choose to investigate, It's a matter of what level you want to pursue. You may tryu to move into the higher levels, but attacking 'honest citizens' may lead to a host of pr and legal nightmares if it goes awry. However, they are sometimes easier to coerce, as they have the most to fear as far as things to lose, if you are using brute force. A simple request to talk to them however might go just as well, and be less debilitating for pr and reputation.
You may attack the lowest level, thugs and street informants.  Easy to find, easy to accomplish, with very few recirprocations, but they may know nothing.
You can attack a medium level enforcer. Such people will likely be defended, but will not cause very much negative pr. They are likely to know a bit more than the lowest level thugs, and in the case of any mobster except ghost, likely to have some personal ties to the boss. Because they face so much pressure as 'middle management' they are among the least likely to talk and cooperate.

so do you intend to pursue information about Spider through Ghost specifically, and at what level and method do you intend to pursue.

Eidolen:
Eidolen goes along for the press confrence and keeps things from getting out of hand when suggesting that Brendan is not fit to run his fathers businesses, partly by suggesting that what's really important is that Brendan has the support of al lthe competent people within the organization.
The press is steered away from questions about Justices death, as 'it is still a police matter'
Brendan comes away looking a little clumsy in the face of pressure from the press, but it seems he has effective lietenent who may carry the organizations along. Much talk is brought up of Justice manufacturing interests, and their importance to the economy of Chicago.
Brendan is unsure how to answer, though he intends to keep things operating exactly as they are since they were largely autonomous anyway, he doesn't want to appear like he isn't doing anything, so he stammers at the question.
Eidolen has some time to think about the question and what he'd like to say to the press about the responsibilities of a millionaire industarlist to the people of Chicago. (and anythign else he'd like to add as well)

(click to show/hide)

Tempest finds nothign on her own that she has not already found. she searches for quite a while looking through fragments of the desk and other rubble. Whatever was here must have burned up.

After this she joins Shepherd (indirectly) as they are both talking to a few security guards, only to learn that things were mostly quiet.
"There was some incident somewhere..let me look that up...Apparently there were some people outside but they were run off quickly enough..

Chronicle reads all this in the reports of course, and spots some details that "Flanagan the guard"  didn't  really recalls enough to bring up in his conversation, since the trauma of what would to come after erased it from his mind.  It seems Flanagan had spotted a two suspicous looking type outside some side doors about 20 minutes before the explostion. Flanagan asked if they needed help twice, and both times they appeared distracted, as if waiting for something.
Later when they left, his report reads 'the three of them have left." But all earlier reports suggest only two people. Uopn further investigation, the third person was dressed differntly than the others in dark but practical gear, instead of suits.

Long Iron, Stitch and Enigma are still considering their options, trying to be open if someone should find they are needed.

"Hey your right..I didn't really think about it at the time, but their were three of them leaving. I was so worried about everything else. I guess they were waiting for that third guy and then left. Still don't know why they met in  front of the building though."

The guard seems sincere in his excitement once his mistake is pointed out to him.. (Shepherd - sense motive 23)

From the Guard "The two were in  grey suits. I could tell they were up to no good, that's why i noticed them. Big guys, mid 20's.
The third guy, he was different. I guess I almost didn't notice him, which is strange becuase he was oddly dressed.  That's why I didnt' think about him not having been there before. He was in blacks and greys, but not a suit, some sort of tighter fitting stuff. He had a weird kind of belt, with alot of empty loops on it. You know, like a tool belt with no tools on it."

"Brendan will be doing his best to live up to his Father's legacy. Like his father he'll be depending on his competent staff of skilled staff to keep Justice Enterprises as the market-leader it is today.

In addition, Justice Enterprises will be preparing its factories to be easily converted in a war-time situation. Brendan believes that, should the world go to war again, America should have the best-quality equipment available for its defense.

Now, I'm sure you all understand that Brendan, and Justice Enterprises, have some busy weeks ahead of them, so we ask that you allow Brendan some privacy in his time of mourning. If you have any further questions, I'll be happy to answer them."
