Hello all!!!

THE GIFT (p.106) feat...

You know a number of spells equal to your INT modifier (min 2).

You can cast these spells a number of time per scene equal to your starting action dice.

So if your starting action dice are 3d4...

How does it work?

- You can cast EACH of the spell you know 3x per scene?

- You can cast 3 spells per scene among those you know?

_________________________________

Similarily, the Captain ART OF WAR power allow you to gain 1 temporary Basic Combat feat at the start of each adventure until the adventure’s end. At lvls 12 and 18 you may use this ability 1 additional time per adventure...

Does it mean that you can have a total of 3 temporary basic combat feats at 18? Or that you can change the temporary combat feat 2 more times during a single adventure at lvl 18?

Thanks

I would assume its the former; the language, if it were the latter, would probably be something more like "You can cast a spell you know a number of time per scene equal to your starting action dice."

It's the second for both.

You can cast any spell you know 3 times per scene and you get 3 temp Basic Combat feats at level 18.

I believe Krensky is correct here.

I'm going to disagree with Krensky for 3 reasons.

1. I made the assumption that the ability granted 3 feats the first time I read it.

(click to show/hide)

2. The feat is a carry over ability from the Tactician Expert Class in SC 2.0 which granted multiple feats.

3. The feats wording:

"At Level 6, you gain 1 temporary Basic Combat feat at the start of each adventure until the adventure’s end.
At Levels 12 and 18, you may use this ability 1 additional time per adventure."

The level 12 and 18 legacy abilities allow you to use the ability multiple times but do not modify the time which the ability is used. You must still select the temporary feats at the start of the adventure. Be able to change the feat you select at the start of the adventure  at the same time you select the original feat is useless.

Jake's right, I misread the question. Not sure how, but it's been a long week.

Okay now you've just made it more confusing.  Could someone please clearly summarize the verdict?

The verdict appears to be that The Gift lets you cast three spells from among the three you know (one spell three times, three spells once each, or whatever).

The Captain ability means that at the high end you get three feats at the start of each adventure.

Correct.
