Is the Pathfinder Bestiary suitable for conversion to Fantasy Craft or is there some other bestiary out there that is better for use with Fantasy Craft?

I am coming back to the d20 fold and am still reading through Fantasy Craft and coming to terms in regards to  the differences between Fantasy Craft and D&D 3.5. Just a bit concerned that I may make my GMing harder for myself by converting Pathfinder material instead of sticking with D&D 3.5 material  Huh?.

I'll take a stab at this one.
In my experience the conversion section in Chapter 6 to convert NPC's from any d20 product (especially DnD) to FC works very well.  A little creative license is required but it is not difficult.

I would not expect any problems with a Pathfinder to FC conversion.

One word of warning though.  FC is NOT simply a repackaging of DnD.  It is a different take on how to run a fantasy game using the core outline of d20 (i.e. classes, levels, feats, skills, etc.).

Have fun!

If you have the FC book or PDF, sit down with it, the NPC generator, and the PFSRD monster section and have a go.

Nothing should pose too much a problem.

Great news  Grin. So I can assume Pathfinder isn't too different from other d20 products.

Will definitely do so in a couple of weeks once I finish reading through the 400 pages as I like to digest my rulebooks page by page and get all the rules in my head nice and clear.

I was mostly curious if Pathfinder was a good choice, and it sounds like it is so I will pick it up to supplement Fantasy Craft.

Well, Pathfinder is D&D 3.75.

If you own a 3.5 MM, there isn't much new in the PF Bestiary.

No, I don't have the 3.5 MM as I went through a phase where I just got tired of d20 and gave away all my books  Cry.

Now that the Mastercraft system has fixed d20 for me I am eager to get some support material for it. So for me the Pathfinder Bestiary will be all shiny and new Grin.

This, if you don't know already, is free: http://www.d20srd.org/

And as Krensky said, there's not much more in the PF bestiary. On the other hand, I can recommend a few nice monster manuals if you're interested.
  • The Fiend Folio is a very fine book, with dark and dangerous foes.
  • The Monsternomicon is the Iron Kingdom's monster manual, but it is a great one and it can easily be ported to another setting (forget about Tome II, though, not nearly as good as the first).
  • Finally, Necromancer Games' Tomes of Horrors are all excellent bestiaries containing terrifying monsters.
I run 95% of my adventures with these three bestiaries, the remaining 5% being covered by Eberron-specific monsters (not counting personal creations and FC's, of course).

No, I didn't know about www.d20srd.org  Embarrassed. It's been a few years since I gave up on d20 so it's going to take a couple weeks for me to catch up. Have it bookmarked for future reference.

I just checked out the 3 volumes of Tomes of Horrors on DTRPG and added them to my wish list. These definitely hit the spot. Awesome Grin.

The Monsternomicon also looks good and I will probably end up getting that as well.

Thanks for the great feedback Smiley.

There's a Pathfinder SRD, also, at http://www.d20pfsrd.com/ , where you can get the stats for some of the additional monsters from the Bestiary, such as the shoggoth.

Pf beasties can converted using the guidelines given. What I haven't tried is True20 -> FC.
