Didn't someone somewhere on the boards stat up Altair's springblade from Assassin's Creed?
I have a character who needs it for her concept.
Thanks in advance.

Altair's hidden blade is probably something along the lines of Unborn-craft (errata'd) stiletto with the grip upgrade. Meanwhile Altair is running around with the knife and ferocity feats along with quick draw and snake strike at the very least- the weapon itself isn't terribly impressive, but the sneak attack it carries. In fact it may not be a Stiletto, and he might just be throwing out called shots with it, that'd jive with how much harder the well armored opponents are to shank, a simple punch dagger might do it then, stat-wise.

I'll be a little nicer and try to throw up something a bit more cinematic, I suppose

Hidden Blade: 1d4 lethal, 18-20, Grip, Finesse, Retracting, D/1h, Hard 1, 10W, 1lb 35s

*Retracting: When worn on your person, this weapon is always considered readied, however, you are only considered armed with it during your Initiative Count. Outside of combat, this weapon is one size category smaller.

If you're feeling adventurous, you might throw on another ability like this:

Precise: When using the Called Shot trick, your opponent's armor is considered 1 grade lighter (minimum Partial)

or

Spring-Loaded: Against Flat-footed opponents, this weapon deals 1 die of sneak attack damage

or

Spring-Loaded: Against Flat-footed opponents, this weapon gains Bleed and AP 4

You see where this is going, Keen might be something else to consider, it would depend on how you define the way the blade works.

Yeah, I was considering the stiletto stats but keen also makes a lot of sense.
Thanks.

Knife basics and a knife would make the hidden blade gear basically moot. I'd say the Assassin's Gauntlet is basically just a stilleto with the Unborn upgrade (making it more hide-able), and best wielded by your Knife Basics guy.

If you're feeling particularly generous, stat it up as a 'magic' item and make it a prize

Yeah, the alternate hidden blade thing was if he wanted a weapon that had that feel regardless of who used it, kind of a knife-basics-lite, though technically I suppose it should be balanced to be both knife-basics-lite and functional with knife basics itself.

Running with Mr. A's example:

Assassin's Hidden Blade
Item: Unborn-crafted Stilletto (1-handed item)
Essence: Feat (Knife Basics)
Reputation Cost: 15

Was just playing Assassin's Creed II today and that thing is definitely a magic item (along with Leonardo's Flying Machine and some of his other gadgets) if you've ever seen one. If you want to make it the "one shot kill" weapon of insanity, dropping Bane (Folk) on it would make it uber deadly (with a greater bane at Level 19 it would have a threat range of 11-20).

I was going to suggest putting either Bane (Folk) or the enhanced threat range on it.  Another option is to put Class Ability (Sneak Attack) on it or the Assassins free ambush ability, but [un?]fortunately you can't have all of them at once, short of an artifact...

Even better, for a truly "fantasy" feel to it. A Blood-stained weapon passed down by generations of an assassin family to strike without warning against their targets.

Wow, I just thought of AC2 with fantasy races. That would ROCK! Orc Bodygards and Saurian merchant princes fight a banking clan war versus the dwarven and elven syndicates with unborn enforcers. WOO-HOO!   Evil

I'd venture that the one in 2 and later periods has Guard and Poisonous.

It'd have poisonous because it's an edged weapon by default, but the guard thing makes sense (just unlocked that upgrade yesterday)

Well, I think the picture shows the poison blade as a second blade on the primary hidden blade, and it automatically reenvenoms itself, but I'm happy handwaving that.

The last weapon is probably more handwaving, since we don't really do two weapons in one housing in MC as far as I can see.
