Well, soldier is a combat specialist. It doesn't mean they're a one trick pony, because there's a lot of different ways they can dominate in combat, and multiple non-combat roles they can fill reasonably well, they'll just have trouble covering all of the roles you'd generally need in a solo character. It could be done, but it would be a challenge.

I would go Explorer and make sure to take Talented (World Traveler) so you get two for one skill ranks with Blend & Cultures. Not only will you increase your ability to disappear without trying but you'll be able to communicate doing it.

For the Cultures foci, Western Europe initially is excellent by itself since you get English out of the gate with the UK. Add in your Int mod choices plus 4 ranks initially to pick up more foci. Tack on Depth of Study for Cultures to grab two more. Conceivably at 1st level with a 16 Int, you can start with 7 out of 10 or 12 foci. If you make his Specialty Contract Professional, then Talented is his bonus feat. You could also pick Feat Training as a Possession pick and earmark it for Depth of Study so you can switch where you may need it.

Soldier is a one trick pony?  Huh? That's depressing to hear.

And, Explorer has good BAB, but not high BAB.

He can be, depends on how you build him.  But much more of a team player.  After all, what's the first thing you bring to a gunfight?  A friend with a gun.   Grin

Or the friend who has a friend who lets him ride around in the back of the pick up truck that has a Air Piston powered Harpoon Cannon.  Soliders are your best protection against the various forms of ouchies.  Their forte is to kill things before it kills them.
