Which is possibly why Nathan Fillion was not cast for this show, at all. I don't think he auditioned, but still, his track record with Fox is far from stellar.

I dug Drive so much... Sad

As did I, and not just because one of the lead females was a Kiwi either. Still, they had a good solid four episodes Sad

Six actually. Did you catch the online episodes?

Apparently they're gone everywhere that you can catch them as single files, though maybe iTunes is offering them now - I haven't checked. But the YouTube vids work in a pinch.

I'm in two minds about watching those two episodes. On one hand, it would be good to see some more of the show, while on the other it would remind me that there'll never be any more.

Yeah. It was a bear to watch them as they end with a pretty feisty cliffhanger.

Network TV is so short sighted these days. I mean, in todays world, ignoring the chances of it even getting made, Cheers would have been yanked after a few episodes. It finished dead last for the first season for crap's sake.

Yup. Some networks are worse than others, but the knee-jerk reaction is fierce, and it's exacerbated by the nets' crazy high rating requirements. Yet another reason I favor basic cable.

It's not all bad, we're just about to get the 4th seasons of both Boston Legal and House here. That's two fine examples of quality American programming. Oh, and before you ask, it does feel a little odd using a Shatner show and 'quality programming' in the same sentance.

The last TV show I saw Shatner in as a regular, was TekWars.  Loved that show!

Sorry if this was addressed already and I missed it...
but why is John going to high school?  I never heard an explanation of that.  Is it just for practice?  He doesn't need the schooling, and I can't imagine they're that worried about truancy laws.

From FOX (in case you guys are interested in how the show is doing in the ratings)

Quote
Day 2 of the TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES premiere did a 4.2/10 among Adults 18-49.  TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES ranked No. 2 in its 9p hour among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and Teens and won in Men 18-49/18-34/25-54.

TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES gave FOX its highest-rated Mon 9-10p hour so far this season (excluding sports) among Adults 18-49 and Total Viewers, posting the biggest ratings in the time period in five months (since Hell’s Kitchen on 8/13/07).

TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES grew substantially over its lead-in, increasing +27% in Adults 18-49 (4.2/10 vs. 3.3/8) and +28% in Total Viewers (10.1 vs. 7.9 Mil).

Compared to FOX’s prior season average in the Mon 9-10p hour, TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES displayed incredible growth: +83% among Adults 18-49 (4.2/10 vs. 2.3/6), +86% among Adults 18-34 (3.9/10 vs. 2.1/6), +46% among Teens (1.9/6 vs. 1.3/4) and +49% in Total Viewers (10.1 vs. 6.8 Mil).

I've been following the numbers on that show pretty closely and they're gratifying to see. It's shown consistent plot, dialogue, and character improvement over its first three episodes and I'd like to see that trend (be given the chance to) continue.

I thought it was interesting that it's doing better than "24" was at that time slot (from last season).

That would mean (A) "24" just lost its Monday night slot for the 8 p.m. (CST) hour; (B) "24" may not make the return back or (C) The shows share the slot with Terminator running in the Fall and Summer.

I so want 24 to be good but it just hasn't been - not for years. The problem, from my perspective, is a distinct lack of continuity. Restarting every year is really hurting my ability to engage with the show because I know nothing will ever matter. It's devolved into the Soap Opera for Men, which I guess is fine but it fails to deliver on so much potential.

I haven't watched the show in years, but I did recently catch an episode of whichever season is playing here currently. Within a few seconds I'd realised that Jack's father was holding Jack's son hostage in exchange for a free pass.

It was at this point that I realised there really was a formula to the show and resolved not to care about it any more.

The Simpsons 24 episode was a hoot, however!
