The ability to fly is a pretty hefty Species feat. It might be workable, but in this case I think that it works best as its own species - a spirit incarnated in stone, be that spirit fey, outsider, or undead....

Char gen was today, along with a lobster dinner. (I demonstrated the manner in which a proper barbarian eats a lobster - neatly, tidily, and the only implement a pick made from one of the lobster's own legs. Smiley )

Th Auld Grump, lobster and ribs - proper barbarian fare.

Happiness!

Further proof of the power associated with flight can be found in the Heritage/Legacy Species feats. Winged Flight is granted by the second feat in each chain and it has the additional costs of a skill check penalty and the dreaded reduction of starting action dice.

Get out a few books on old architecture and you'll find plently of wingless gargoyles so a two teir feat could be justified. Species or unborn feat comes down to taste and your world in the end. That's the great thing about the core rules not restricting you to the companies world.

Heh, properly, gargoyles are waterspouts. Tongue Most of what we call gargoyles these days are actually grotesques. But yeah, there are plenty of wingless gargoyles and grotesques.

I am very nearly certain though that my players want the winged and flying gargoyles. Smiley I don't have a problem with that, I just need to adjust my tactics accordingly. Sadly, none of the players seem that interested in having water gurgling out of their mouths. I blame Disney. Tongue

another possible take on gargoyles would be a species feat for the unborn...

This is what I did with Gargoyles, they're one of the construction styles you can choose, they're more animated stone, and tend to be less humanoid:

Gargoyle:
-Type: You gain the Beast type
-Beast Traits: You lack hands or other fine manipulators, and cannot take actions requiring them.
You can only use armor, handheld gear, and non-natural weapons specifically modified for your
use.
-You lose Achilles Heel (Electricity) and Reviled. (Unborn have reviled in this world, gargoyles lose it on the idea that even though they're strange, they're something people are more accustomed to seeing, and more readily would believe them coming to life).
-Brittle: All blunt weapons deal lethal damage to you.
-Natural Attacks: You gain Slam II and Claw I natural attacks.
-Statuesque: You gain a +5 to Sneak checks in Settled terrain
-Winged Flight: You gain a Winged Flight speed of 50ft.
