Bit early yet I know but I have a few questions and they may be of general use too.  Smiley

With SC 3.0 focusing on pure espionage type classes and stuff (say Snoop, Faceman, Soldier etc), if a SC setting (eg VofS) needs a broader range of classes (say Scientist, Sleuth, Mage), will these extra classes be covered in a rules supplement ?

The reason I ask is I'm planning on re-inventing my old Department 7 (sci-fi horror/supernatural espionage) campaign as a VoS campaign. My PCs are a Scientist (with some spell knowledge), an Air Force Pilot Wheelman and an ex-CSI forensic investigator (Snoop). I would have them all recruited by the VOA if possible as investigators, with backup from the VOA Heavy Artilery guys as required.

Would this fit with the plans/concepts/ideas for SC 3.0 and the VoS setting ??. Thanks.

Depends on the release structure we have at the time. We like to release complete thoughts and we also like to keep the minimum buy-in for any particular setting as low as possible (typically the core book and the setting book, unless there's some compelling reason for more), so chances are that if a class that's needed for a setting isn't in the core book it'll find a home in the setting book. That is not, however, any promise of content for Vow - as you say, we're still way too far out to speak on that product with authority.

As I say above, it's far too early to tell. Sorry.

Oh, I think I could find a use or two for the VoS book in my campaigns  Smiley.

That is when I get the initials of the agency the right way round. VAO !!!  Grin

Rise, topic, riiiiise!   Evil

Okay, thread necromancy, done. Now back on topic.

I'm quite eager to see Vow of Silence as well. I hope to use the setting either as stand alone, or in addition to other campaigns, like Dark Inheritance or Dresden Files for instance, if it meshes well. So here are my two questions:

1. In your opinion, will Vow of Silence be a "campaign setting", which can be ported into various universes, or rather a "campaign world", fully detailed and a priori not compatible with other universes?

2. When do you expect to release it, more or less a season?  Smiley

Well, it is a fully detailed campaign setting, but there's no reason that the groups and power structures involved can't be ported over wholesale into other settings. I don't see that being an issue.

Lol! You're so funny.

We're still a ways off from showcasing the plug-and-play nature of settings in Spycraft Third but I can assure you that it's a lot more modular than anything we've ever done before. Though Vow is a fully detailed setting, it'll easily run alongside the default setting, or any other setting, with ease.

Release schedules for all Spycraft Third projects are pretty fluid at this point. As you might imagine, it's absolutely critical that the new edition be awesome, so we're letting the line cook until it's done.

I'm cool with that.

(My approval and $3.50 will get you a box of Girl Scout Cookies.)

Yes yes, no worries. I was just wondering whether Vow of Silence was developed more or less in parallel with Spycraft 3 or if they were waiting for the release before actually working on it (or at least the mechanical part). Guess I have my answer, thanks.  Cool

The work to date on Vow is substantial but the project is mostly on hold until we get Spycraft Third to a stage where its further development won't force changes in supplements.

And I add another voice to Vow's waiting list.

Of course that means you've allready sold SC 3.0 to at least one guy.  Tongue

No cutting in the queue, buddy.

Also, for the record, while I have lost my faith in a lot of things over the past year, a mastercraft powered cyberpunk rpg is not one of them. Smiley

Here, here....  Although, as noted in another thread, we may have to mix and match a few things till said item is available.

All in good time, my friends. A pile of notes continues to reside on my computer and in my head, but first things first!
