I think so unless anyone objects violently.  Smiley Only thing is I'm unsure whether to put the page under Unofficial Settings for FC or MC ?

for my 2 cents worth in MasterCraft. S&P is not Fantasy.

Yes, you're right about that. Anyway, I'm starting to convert the setting with FC, but I'll probably be drawing in bits from SC and 10KB (and a Space Opera MC game maybe ?) so it would fit better in the MC settings.OK, MC it is.

SilvercatMoonPaw, I'll try and have a look for you over next few days. Not sure I can add much.

Well, it is... but you're right about the first part.

Was bored and looking at my (small) figure collection so threw this together:

Mountain Clutch
The Kobold who live in remote mountains and deep caverns thrive in the darkness and have a habit of playing with fire.
Requirements: Saurian, Level 1 Only
Benefit: Your size becomes small (1x1 reach 1), your wounds are equal to 2/3 of your Constitution, you also lose the natural attacks granted by your species.
You gain Crafting as an origin skill and Enlightened Skill: Prestidigitation. You also gain heat & fire resistance 5.
Finally you may ignore the “level 1 only” prerequisite of Draconic Heritage.

Mountain Crest
Servants of dragons, their powerful magic runs through you.
Requirements: Mountain Clutch
Benefit: Your heat and fire resistance s increase by 5 (to 10) and spells from the Energy school cost 1 less spell point to cast.

There is a certain logic to making them a saurian splinter race, but I think it gets mechanically messy. This was my take on them as a distinct species talent from about a year ago:

Using more up to date tools:

Kobold
Splinter Race Feats: Dragon Heritage & Legacy
Type: Small Biped Folk with a Reach of 1.  Your maximum Wounds are equal to your Constitution Score x 2/3 (rounded up). [0.0]
     • Attributes: +2 Dexterity, –2 Strength. [1.0]
     • Base Speed: 30 ft. [0.0]
     • Agile Defence: Your base Defence increases by 1. [1.0]
     • Ambush Basics: You gain the Ambush Basics feat. [3.0]
     • Cold Blooded: You require only 1 common meal per day but suffer 1 additional damage per die from cold and are sickened for a number of rounds equal to 1/2 any cold damage taken (rounded down). If you suffer continuous cold damage — such as from the environment — you are sickened until you escape the source of the damage. [-0.5]
     • Enlightened Search: Your maximum Search rank increases to your Career Level + 5. Only the highest bonus from any single enlightened ability may apply to each skill. [1.0]
     • Favoured Specialties: If your specialty is Acrobat, Criminal, Gladiator, Miner, Rogue, Shaman, Sorcerer or Tribesman, you may purchase feats and take classes as a goblin. [0.5]
     • Light-Sensitive: Each time you enter a more brightly lit area, you suffer 20 points of flash damage. [-0.5]
     • Low Light Vision: You gain dark vision I quality, ignoring penalties from dim and faint light. [1.0]
     • Slippery Devil: You gain a +3 bonus to avoid being grabbed. [0.5]

That was back in AD&D 2nd Ed.  They've been reptiles claiming dragon heritage since 3.0.

Technically before the AD&D hokey-pokey kobolds where ugly tin mining pech and hobgoblins were pech that cleaned your house for you. Ahh the good old days   Smiley

I love this use of Iconic Specialties, by the way

Edit: Which, looking back at Morg's thread, is actually Favored Specialties, but it's still nifty

As you can see in the original build I gave them the horde feats as default splinter race feats -- so essentially they had the breed quality -- but cross-breed as the specialties benefit works even better.
