And you expanded the explanations.  That is mighty fine work.  Personally, I'd delete the originals and just point to yours.  I may do so over the weekend.  Time is kind of short right now.

Are you guys using the origin species races creation here on the wiki on this forum that has the point system? If so, what is the point level for a pc race expected to be?

Otherwise, are you guys just kind of putting them together as it seems to be reasonable?

7 points

Thanks. That should be listed at the top of that wiki entry. Hm, I could add it myself I suppose Smiley

Re-arranging wiki text for greater clarity on this point.

I'd gone and added it, but it was a brief 1 sentence comment I did on my cell phone during church, so it was rather basic, hehe!

I take it talents are supposed to also be 7 points? What about Specialties from that section of the wiki? Also 7?

A specific enlightened skill is only 1 point. Otherwise looks pretty servicable to me Smiley.

Thanks for the link. I think that that should be the top nested page, however, before you get to the list of points for races, talents, etc. Or, otherwise, have cross-links between the two pages to make them obvious.

Otherwise, someone might head one direction and never realize the page on the other direction.

As for races, ok, let's try this. I have a race concept from a game I ran in another system many years ago. An ancient race, the Minotaur, also called the Minos. They were a proud race, intellectual and passionless - think vulcans. They built massive, maze-like cities, which appealed aesthetically to their convoluted method of logical thought.

They disappeared, centuries ago, in a cataclysm. Well, almost. Their remnants are little more than monstrous barbarians. Their culture was thought extinct with their more thoughtful people, until a number of them, imprisoned and in stasis, their souls being fed upon over centuries by a demonic spider, was discovered. Their bodies were recovered, their mindless shells little more than husks... but their loins capable of producing the uncorrupted offspring of their forebears, which the barbaric ones could never do again.

And thus, with a breeding project enacted, their species was restored.

The Minotaur / Minos
(-1) Aloof: +2 error range on Impress and Sense Motive checks targeting other species
(-1) Iconic Classes – If your level in any base class is higher than your level in either Captain or Mage, your starting AD decrease by 2
(-1) Iconic Specialities – You gain your specialties bonus feat only if you’re an Adept, Artisan, Fighter, Guardian, Lord, Physician, Shield Bearer, Vanguard, Warden, Wizard
(+1) Broad Learning - You gain 2 additional studies
(+1) Inquisitive Mind – You gain 2 additional interests
(+2) Double Boost (Intelligence) – You may spend and roll 2 AD to boost -based skill checks.
(+2) If I Recall… - You gain a +5 bonus with Knowledge checks.
(+2) Sharp Mind – you gain 1 additional skill point per level.
(+1) Natural Attack I – You gain a Grade I natural attack - Gore
(+1) Large Reach 1

I don't see a size modifier price, so I assume the benefits and disadvantages balance out? They are Large creatures...

EDIT: Ok, edited to add in large. Took out the attribute modifiers for intelligence and charisma; the other modifiers seem to meet my needs for this race adequately.

Size comes in at the top.  To be Large, Reach 1 (Ogre or Rootwalker-sized)costs 1 point, and Large, Reach 2 (Drake or Giant-sized) costs 2.

Thanks. I'll go tweak my guy.

EDIT: and he is now tweaked.

Looks like they'd make very nice Mages.  Pity about the iconic classes, though, because they'd also be good Keepers.

Just a couple of tiny quibbles:

- It seems a bit redundant having both "2 additional studies" and "2 additional interests", imho.  (And I'm mildly confused as to why these are the same price, but that's not aimed at you)

- They reduced the loss for Iconic Classes to 1 AD.
