Hmm, I see that the good Crafty folks are running LARPS at Gen Con this year....

Any likelihood of published rules for such? PDFs would be just fine, trust me. Smiley

Eventually. It's something I've been kicking around for a while, but with the rules currently being revamped and several other projects having priority, it's not likely to see release soon.

Yeah, while I would love to get to play in a Spycraft LARP I know how my gaming really goes. I get to play about once every two years, otherwise I run, about one and a half games a week. (This year I have gotten to play in two sessions! A recent record for me.)

A mate of mine use to do this kind of stuff. Goto this car park, find car X keys under front wheel arch, get in and use mobile to ring last #. that sort of thing. Sounded a real blast!  Cool

The Atomic Squah gaming club http://www.atomicsquash.com/Forum/ runs a Spycraft LARP every year at Diecon http://www.diecon.com/CSK/default.aspx in St Louis. Crafty_Pat even participated last year. If you are in the area or want to travel it is a great little gaming con the first weekend of June.

Hmmm, I live out in New England - Maine to be more precise. Bit of a walk, that.

A guy I know in the U.K. runs paintball LARPs, which operate like typical paintball games with additional objectives. One year he ran one with a downed satellite somewhere in a huge field (something like three miles square). The characters on each side were racing to find it and remove a chip from it (the satellite, guidance system, and chip were all built to scale and required several minutes to open once a team arrived on site). I wish I could have played in that, though I'm sure I would have gotten pasted almost immediately.

The DieCon LARPs are great. They're written and run by an entirely separate crew from our GenCon events, which gives them a different flavor, but both are using the same evolving set of rules. This year I radically simplified those rules to playtest some new ideas and they seemed to go over well. Hopefully it's a big step toward a product at some point. Smiley

Any possibility of a quick mention of how task resolution is accomplished? Dice, cards, rock-paper-scissors?

Every iteration to date has used playing cards. The most recent iteration excludes face cards, though, partly for balance reasons and partly to speed up the system and make it more intuitive.
