Hondo relaxes leaning against the cool metal of Lady Liberty's head, and uses the fact that it's a big-ass echo chamber to get some guitar time in.

Elsie and Marcus see Alice emerge from the side door, cursing like a sailor. She grabs a bag of cement and procedes to drag it back inside.

Franklin finds a good spot to sit and enjoy the view while listening to Hondo playing the guitar. Right now, from way above and at a distance, the surface world doesn't seem like the shithole it is. He'll just sit here a little while longer and enjoy the view.

Marcus stood watching the hazy city across the water, lost in thought.  When he see Alice start carrying supplies he snaps out of it and asks here where the Vault guys are that were supposed to help.  After she complains about them, he'll shake his head, sigh, and then smile.  "Come on, I'll help you carry it down."

Alice waved away Marcus' offer, "I got this ONE."  Not taking any heed to someone maybe following her, she carried the bag to the elevator and leaned over the edge.  "Are you listening?" she shouted.  "Here's the last bag of cement I'm hauling for you lazy asses!"  As the echoes of her infuriated shriek faded, Alice lifted the bag of cement over her head and threw it down the shaft, turning with a satisfied smirk at the thump the bag made when it hit.

Elsie climbs the stairs to the top of the pedestal, and then, standing at the base of the statue she shouts upwards. "Guys - Alice has gone crazy. She's throwing bags of cement down the elevator shaft. Can you come help?"

The bag of cement disposed of, Alice went looking for Scribe Parker to investigate the salvage of the blasted turret he dumped off the pier.  Perhaps there are parts still of value...

Franklin sighs to himself and starts climbing down again, muttering something about 'never a moment's rest.' Upon climbing down and discovering that Alice had not, in fact, gone crazy but was just venting some steam towards the Overseer, he can't help but chuckle. Right now the Overseer deserves more than a little grief; he'd probably have tossed a sack down as well if he'd been there. But right now, looking to make himself useful, he decides to help Alice with her little salvage operation.

Hondo heads down the stairs with Franklin, and upon establishing that Alice wasn't crazy (or at least not any MORE crazy), as well as establishing what the deal is with the overseer, he sighs and starts loading the shit. May as well get this the fuck done.

When he reaches the bottom with the first load, he rings the bell or whatever to let people know to come collect the start of the shit.

While Alice is busy bothering Andrew about the location of the sunk turret, Marcus, Frank and Hondo begin loading the building supplies onto the elevator.

An hour later the supplies are stacked up outside the Vault door. With a crackle and a flick, the lights blink on, illuminating the room. Several LEDs light up on the nearby control panel, and with a 'click', a familiar voice echoes from the speaker.
"Ah yes, excellent! Hello Hondo, Franklin and Marcus - I see you have the building materials." A camera that was hidden in a niche above the Vault door swivels from side-to-side, panning over each of you. It is obviously the Overseer. He's probably conducting this conversation from his office, sat in that nice comfy chair of his. "Those are some, ah... interesting clothes that you're wearing. Where are your regulation jumpsuits, and where is Alice and Elspeth?" He sounds a little concerned.

Meanwhile, upstairs Andrew is vigorously shaking his head at Alice.
"Uh-uh. That's a bad idea. You'd need something capable of hauling the turret's waterlogged carcass out of the water, and we don't have any rope strong enough. Also, I stripped it of ammo and any electronics worth mentioning." He shrugs apologetically. "Trust me, it's a hulk."

Alice blushed when Andrew said he had stripped the turret completely. "Sorry for, um, thinkin' ya hadn't done that.  I guess I'll go finish making the turret the Blackhawks 'gave' me a bit more portable."

She scurried back to her turret, and began carefully dismantling it for parts.

Spoiler: show
Take 20 on the Mechanics check to break down the turret for bits.

"This is my regulation jumpsuit, mang," Hondo answers flatly. "And Elsie prob'ly ain't comin' back. Maybe not Alice, either--she's pretty pissed or whatever."

After a moment's hesitation, flashing orange lights begin to turn and a claxon blares, painfully loud in the enclosed chamber. With a grinding of gears, something starts to happen behind the Vault door, and after a good minute of clanking and whirring, the great, cog-shaped door slides inwards away from you. With a loud BANG, it ceases moving for a moment, and then pondrously rolls off to one side, bathing the three of you in the harsh white light of the Vault. It is then, that several things happen all at once.

You are momentarily blinded by a searchlight that is shone directly upon you. This is accompanied by a familiar voice that shouts
"Go go go!" and a clattering of boots. As your eyes adjust to the light, you see a dozen men - the Vault's entire security compliment - dressed in full body armor and armed with assault rifles. The weapons are trained on you, and as you try to take this in, the Security Chief steps out of the Vault. He is similarly attired, and he levels a handgun at Hondo. "You know your orders, men. If any of them don't cooperate, hose 'em." He looks over you all, and says. "Ok, back into the elevator. NOW." His face is a mixture of emotions until the Overseer appears in the open doorway. He smiles. "Excellent, Captain. Good work. If they attempt to advance, kill them." With an almost-snarl, he barks back at the Overseer "Yes Sir!"

Spoiler: show

12 Security Guards wearing Modular Security Armor with Guards and Trauma Plates, armed with M4 assault rifles. They all have taken the Ready action, and will fire a Burst at each of you if you attempt to advance. That's 4 Bursts each.

Spoiler: For Marcus only • show

Thanks to a successful Sense Motive check on your part, it's fairly obvious that the Chief doesn't want to do this.

Franklin stares at the men pointing guns at him for a moment, then with a careful, deliberate motion brings up the arm that he has his pip-boy on, presses the radio button and speaks in a very level tone of voice: "Alice, could you come to the Vault entrance, right now? We seem to have a situation here. Oh, and Elsie, if you want to tell them about your decision, now's the time."

After letting the girls know about the current situation, Franklin throws the Overseer a level, cold look. "I'd be right in calling this a situation, yeah? I don't think you brought the entire security force with you just to make sure no-one sneaks in, or helping carry this stuff since they're all busy pointing guns at us. And if you were worried about contamination or something you'd have brought the Doc with you. Now, call me paranoid, but it looks like you've got ill intentions towards us. It doesn't look like you're trying to kill us, right away that is, so what's your plan?" While talking he takes a half-step back, turns towards the bags of cement, walks over and sits down on one of them, careful to keep the autoaxe hanging from his belt in plain sight.

Alice's voice crackled from Franklin's Pip-Boy. "This better be good Franklin, this thing has a whole mess of little doors and I need to open All of them."

Spoiler: show
How long has it been since Alice started disassembling the turret?  If she isn't done she would like to find a good point to stop and head to the top of the elevator.

How long is the shaft?  With the IR she could easily tell if someone is standing in it at the bottom.
