The code basically comes down to the following.

First and foremost, don't get caught: honour belongs to the victor, the price of failure is typically death.

Also, shit happens: if you can't cope with it, that's your problem. Saving someone's behind on a hunt tends to make them look bad.

Don't interfere with another's hunt once it's begun; no one likes a spoil sport.

Fight together, hunt alone: fighting is about survival, hunting is about glory.

Can we safely assume that kacking the locals is considered a pleasant past-time while on a hunt? The movies certainly support the notion.  Culturally, we're not expected to try and wring information out of this creature, are we?

Rule 0: Don't get caught.

Ganking the local meat outright or finding some other use for it is all good.

I'd like to point out for Silent Step's benefit that she's got the Contempt feat for free. If the local meat's a standard character, she might be able to throw her Chakram at it as a free attack in the middle of this chase. It's Andersen's call, of course, but I thought I'd mention it.

And what would I do with that AD expenditure?  Make it take 2 to confirm the error, definitively not hit Tusk?  Are those even possible?

An error's only an error if it's ALSO a failure. If the use of an AD can push your result into a success (in this case, I assume, a hit on what is likely to be a flat-footed opponent), then it's a success, and you don't need to worry about the initial natural roll.

However, I'm going to guess that a Hard Meat's got a defense of somewhere between 14 and 18. Getting into that range from a 9 is a longshot, but it's your call.
