Which brings us back to the question of level. I did 3rd, Glimmerrat did 5th. Which way do you want to go, Andersen?

The Yautja word for Hard Meat, the xenomorphic aliens which aren't using proprietary terms... unless I spelled it incorrectly.  (quick search came up Kainde Amedha)

So our player list is as follows:

Glimmerrat -- Broken Tusk
Leif -- Death Brother
Gentry -- Three Eye
Dhampire -- Swift Spear
Girl Friday -- Silent Step

As to the hard meat, they are both beasts and horrors (though the face huggers are animal horrors); favoured foe doesn't stack

Broken Tusk (Glimmerrat)
(click to show/hide)

Broken Tusk is a young hunter who lives for the fight. He doesn’t care about glory or reputation; he only wants to match his skills against a worthy opponent and prove himself superior. He is adorned with trophies and scars from quarrels with other bucks, and has been reprimanded by his elders more than once for brawling with someone whom he felt had challenged him in some way.

I dig that we've all got a different weapon loadout so far. It'll be interesting to see what the other two Predanoobs look like.

I considered taking a pair of flails with Flail Basics/Mastery, Darting Weapon and Two-Weapon Fighting. It's a sick, sick combination, and can be done easily by a level 3 Soldier.

Firstly I know this is a work in progress so I'll be updating my dude as I go along the character creation process.

While I don't know what the build will look like when I'm done with it I have a pretty good idea of where it'll go.

I'm going to chose CON as my martial arts stat and dump all I can into it. I've been calling my dude as 'Beefy-Mc-Crabface' for most of the evening when thinking about the game. I'll likely go into Masters art and deliver my fighting fists of fury. When forced not to use hand-to-hand combat he'll use his combi-stick and punching dagger (or do we have stats for the wristblade?)

Any suggestions on martial-arts styles that would make sense for Yautja culture? I've thought about wrestling and perhaps rage basics but I'm not sure where to go from there.

Speaking of hand-to-hand combat, do I need special gloves or armor to cover my limbs so when I crit some hard-skin my hands don't melt off?

How much SP are we given to buy all our loot?
When it comes to armor I'm torn between Ogre armor (which will help increase my damage output) or giant armor (which will help me survive the blood of the hard flesh.) Either Way I'll try and make it superior and fitted.

There is a Punching Dagger in the edged weapon list. There's also a Hand Claw.

I bought armor (you start with 300s, by the way) for Three-Eye so he's got something to shuck out of in case it gets something nasty on it. It doesn't grant him any more DR than his normal hide would, and I have no idea if the idea of "whip off my armor real fast to avoid acid" is mechanically workable, but it felt like a good flavor idea nonetheless.

The real thing that scares me about the Tonguemeisters is that death throes attack Andersen put on 'em. That's a big load of damage dropping hard onto whoever's nearby. Unfortunately, there's no real defense for it--you just have to hope you've got enough v/w left to weather the storm.

I know Friday is going with paired hand claws.

If Leif is going to use a double sword, then i'm going to have to change my build. I don't want to be the same as someone else.  Undecided

Wrist blades strike me as nothing more complex than a hands-free upgrade applied to an at most small blade.

Death throes is going to be house ruled to something like the bug's wounds value

It's not bad if you can take out your target from range, even a range as low as 15 or 20 feet is fine, since the throes have a blast increment of 1. So a warrior drops 75 damage in his own square, which is where you way don't want to be (like grappling). Adjacent squares take 37 damage, which is survivable, assuming you haven't taken any damage prior. If you've got a reach weapon and so can stand yet another square away, the damage comes down to 18, which is quite survivable.  The issue is figuring out how to kill a tonguemeister without having to stand right freaking next to it. Smiley

Rather than houserule it based on health or wounds somehow, why not just manipulate the starting percentage of the NPC's xp value? Just having the damage start at 1/4 of the NPCs xp total instead of half is a fine fix, methinks. That makes ground zero continue to be a brutal place to be, without making it instantly lethal.

This is why I went ranged, which is what I did in the 1st AVP FPS.  Even the atlatl can be handwaved as a 'spear gun'.

I think this would work.  After all, the goal isn't to murder everyone who goes toe-to-toe with it, is it?  If so, where's an Acid Resistance upgrade for our gear?

Y'know what somebody needs? A barwhip. Some kind of funky bladed whip feels very Predatorish--wasn't there some kind of monofilament hoo-hah in one of the films? Oh wait, a websearch reveals that it was AvP2. Well, at least the whip is cool.  Smiley

I'm also surprised nobody's looked at the Axes. I'm just as guilty, but I'm surprised none of us seem to have thought of it as we looked at all the stabbity options.

I'm ditching the combi-stick idea and I'm more likely to go with a giant staff as my main non-fist weapon.

Any stance suggestions?
