Okeydokey, here's where we can discuss the possible Fallout PbP. To recap:

Players
Antilles (Franklin Gennaro, ax crazy)
Billwhitmore (Marcus Smith, chop-socky philosopher)
Gentry (Hondo Gomez, gentle giant)
Girlfriday (Elsie Moore, pin-up girl)
Militajim (Alice De'Vresta, wrench wench)

Qualities
Bloodbath
Historical (2200AD)
Loot
Lost Glory (Seasons Only: +100XP): All items have their battery life reduced by half (rounded down). Additionally, all weapons increase their error range by 2, and when you roll an error the weapon must make a damage save (DC 10).
Omni-Competent
Stockpile

Characters
Level 1, Back to Basics classes.

Please see the Middle Earth OOC thread for the format I like my PbP players to use, and post any questions here.

I'm going to keep an eye on this thread since I've been looking at a PA style game for a future home game.

I was originally thinking of playing a mechanic, but I may go with something like a counselor or an administrator, depending on what may work out best.  I am eyeballing the 3 mental hero types, Smart, Dedicated, and Charismatic.

Color me interested, but I've never played Fallout and so know only what I can find on Wikipedia and the Bethesda site (which, by the way, I find exceptionally cool, and may motivate me to go finally buy the dang game). How much trivia do I need to have a command of in order to join an effort like this? You make the call, Glimmerrat.

(Based solely on my web searching, I'm liking a Scout-styled character).

I'm thinking a strong, melee-type character, with a smattering of stealth maybe. Dunno, still rattling ideas around.

You actually don't need that much - just an appreciation for 1950s kitsch, and a love of Post-Apocalyptic drama. The only trivia you need to know will be provided in the first few posts. Your characters will know little (if anything) of the outside world.

Well then I'm up for it if you are and the rest of the group can stand me.  Smiley

Is there any room in the setting for a "driver" sort of character? Most everything I'm seeing on Fallout presents people on foot.

Err.... noooot really. The problem is that you've grown up inside a sealed nuclear bunker. Admittedly it is kinda big, but there isn't exactly room for driving lessons. Even if you'd been outside (which is very unlikely, unless your Overseer is insane), the only people with working vehicles are the Enclave. And they don't like you.

Yeah, that was the impression I was getting.  But that's fine. This is just me, asking questions.  Smiley

How about ethnic diversity within a vault? Any chance of insular ethnic groups forming "neighborhoods" inside vaults? Can I play a Puerto Rican?

Vault population is generally representative of the surrounding area. If there are Puerto Ricans in New York, then there'll be Puerto Ricans in the Vault. That said, you tend to live where the Overseer tells you to, so ethnic neighborhoods are kinda out. Also remember that after 200 years, in a place with an original population 1000, a lot of people tend to have mixed ethnicity. If you don't then the small gene pool will quickly lead to inbreeding issues.

Sorry, that was a lot longer than I intended.

I'm going with Charismatic Hero. I'm going to be a dippy 50's style blonde.

I'm thinking starting Fast with Craft and Wisdom for modifying, moving onto Inventor.  Most feats around combat though.  Would like to be stealthy, but that might just be me.

I just had the (horrid?) idea of being the wrench wench next to your glamor girl. Lips Sealed

Ok, that makes me want to play a middle aged feminist woman, just to see the sparks fly.

"You can ask me, then." she said, glaring at the blonde.  "I'm a woman."

The only problem with that is I would be playing a woman and I have a hard time wrapping my mind around them.

Of course I was also thinking of being a vault administrator.  Maybe a middle aged, feminist woman being groomed as the next overseer before whatever happens gets us removed from the vault...
