Airships. Flying Fun. Has anyone taken a swing at these yet? Eberron or Otherwise? FFX_? I'd be interested in seeing some people weigh in on this!

I think one of the settings (I forget the name) for fantasy craft as flying ships of a kind. I don't recall the name.

Someone more intelligent than I will come along and produce it, surely.

Flying galleons are a key vessel in the Wyrmstone setting.

At this stage, airship rules aren't heavily codified. The plan was to base airship combat on the chase rules, as two Highsailing ships fighting looks a lot like two submarines fighting, and the chase rules felt like a good tool for that. With Crafty potentially revising those for the future it felt like reinventing the wheel (and probably poorly) to do our own ship-to-ship combat rules.

That said, we'd love to see ideas from people fired up to write them up. So if you're into the idea, by all means lay it out.

Yeah, I have to admit that I do not use airships as much as I would like for my steampunk game. In the setting they have big envelopes and large steam powered screws (props) on the sides of the gondola, somewhat akin to a steam powered heavy lift or Skyhook -

Look to see airships making a comeback in the years ahead. Smiley

Other flying machines in the setting include Kites (biplanes - both gliders and powered) and Screwjacks (four propped helicopters - tricky to fly, but very maneuverable - not much for legs though).
