I said it in another topic but I am going to say it again since it is a huge part of the genre.
I want a system for handling memory manipulation.  Falsifying or distorting memories, repressing memories, implanting memories.
Not only that but multiple personalities or sleeper agents.

Are you thinking of a gadget like in Men In Black or were you thinking about something else entirely.  Sonething like a drug induced brain wipe?

To be honest I am not 100% sure exactly what I am looking for, A lot of this sort of thing can be handled with narrative maybe just a very short chapter with some mechanics and tips to handling missing and false memories in pcs and npcs.  These can be drug, device, brain washing induced or any number of other things we have seen in tv, movies and books.

It could be cool depending on how they do things.  Since people appear to be interested in gadgets; they could introduce gadgets like that found in Men In Black or they could follow the narrative suggestion like you pose.  I would not use it but it could be interesting.

Not exactly what kind of a 'system' you need for that. Sounds like subplots and Control Eyeball mk. 1 to me. :/

That will handle a certain amount of it.  But even rules for doing it to NPCs to make them into sleeper agents or forget you where there or whatever things we find in the fiction.

Sounds like a brainwash or seduction conflict.

Sounds like a brainwash or seduction conflict.
Both of those conflicts where handled well in 2nd ed but a little more expansion on them would be nice.

Any chance of a listing of espionge related inspirations and souces  (eg games, books, films) similar to the one that appeared in World on Fire ?

Ha, Ha. Great minds must think alike.  Smiley

Seriously though, I think that lists of inspirations are an excellent aid for GMs in capturing the feel of a setting and often supplying loads of adventure ideas too.

The sourcebooks for GURPS used to have massive further reading and viewing lists and I've built whole campaigns round a reading list.

I particularly liked the Sources of Inspiration (for different genres) which you put in the campaigning section of the SC 2.0 rulebook.

You're not wrong - many gaming books have introduced me to some excellent books and films that I'd never heard of.

We like them too, and inspirations are listed for all three settings in the Adventure Companion. World on Fire came together very differently though, more as a response to global affairs than an emulation of anything that had come before, and I think it's stronger for that.

You know, having just been flicking through some 1st edition Spycraft books, I find myself somewhat nostalgic for their look and layout
