No problemo.

Also, with the new MC gear system I have some new envisioned gloriousness in the terms of upgrades for guns specialized by weapon mount locations.  A list for rail mounts, scope mounts, barrel/stock upgrades, ammo upgrades, etc.  So it could be Step 1: choose a b/a specific gun.  step 2: Upgrade the crap out of said gun.  Step 3: Huh?  Step 4: Profit.

Step 3.  Point at something you wish to no longer exist.  Call it "Field Testing" on the paperwork.

Man, I wish I could be in one of your home games.  It'd be epic.

Heh, I wish.  Alas, we've got Transformers: Beast Wars, Rogue Trader, Warhammer Fantasy, and likely something else in the mix before I get my turn to GM again.  Current plan is for a Mass Craft game run by me as my next campaign.  May have to change it back to regular spy bad-assness when the new books come out.  My group's been begging me for modern again.  Who am I to refuse?

Yes, we'll be rotating to Star Trek when the current game ends.

I'd love to have in a game, Charlie. ... I'd continue with either my A-Team style game (what we are doing now), go back into my D-Gate game, or go straight espionage. It'll depend on 3rd for where I go. The obvious advantage of MC will really allow the D-Gate to expand in dramatic fashion.

-With a new chance to rework the gear section, could we:
a) get all the cool things from the bag full of guns added into the lists without needing extra pdf purchases again.  That'd be great.

b) if we end up simplifying the rules for guns into "all pistols do X" and then using manufacturers or add-ons, could we at least get a list of examples of common ones (i.e.  The FN FiveseveN is a pistol with this material, these bullets and this craftsmanship)  A list of firearms with names really helped some people in my game identify what it was that they wanted (and at least helped them identify what it was they really liked easier).  If guns become generic I will be somewhat sad, but will understand.
Where does this idea come form?
As long as I'm allowed to write about guns I will push against this approach. Consider me the NRA in this case. Making "generic" handguns is the thing that moved me from D20 Modern towards SC.

My thoughts on SC3?
I have mixed feelings about it. I imagined FC to be the replacement for D&D, and I was disappointed. Partially responsible for this was the gear system.
I would really love to see the 2.0 gear system being ported to 3.0. Not only does the old system work, it also gives the player flexibility (which I don't see in FC).
I'm wary about the simplified feats and the impact it will have on martial arts games, the changes in FC left me a bit underwhelmed.
I also worry by the specific approach SC is taking. Espionage as a genre is of no interest to me, I prefer crime (which thankfully is covered in 10KB), military and over-the-top action. 2.0 is my one stop for this, I can play zombie survival one day and miami vice the other. With the division into genre books I lose this flexibility.
I will wait and see how this all develops.

I was going to create a "feeling" thread.. but this one will do.  Why have 40 threads for 20 guys (and girls) saying the same thing.  Initial Feelings.. Woah!  Didn't see that one coming.

I sort of did, but that is due in part to a discussion at the Weber Grill in Indy. Wink

Unlike the 1.0->2.0 transition, I have a pretty good idea what to expect. Just look at mastercraft to get some idea about the scope of changes.

Potential downsides:
1) it appears that vos won't be out soon.
2) last we spoke about it, thbe crafty crew were gunning for one of my fave core classes.

Even better, you could run a semi-historical campaign, then 'upgrade' it to Spycraft in a year's time with the SC characters being descendants of the original FC characters.

I'm with the NRA here.

Just to clear at least one thing up, we have never, and will never, consider generic weapons for Spycraft Third.

Which actually speaks directly to the dificulty of working with the modern era. For sci-fi it's no big deal (even appealing) to have maybe 30-40 base models, a couple layers of of overlays (weapon technology/manufaturer/quality level), and 20ish ge-gaws you can attach to them... and viola - 20,000 sci-fi weapons. Like magic, nobody can really tell you you're wrong when you do it that way and its eminently balanced, diverse, interesting, and playable. But dealing with the modern age you start hitting some demands for research and accuracy that, unless you are a pre-existing ameteur scholar on the topic, can quickly far outstrip the finacial return for the effort.
