As the subject states I am sure many of us Spycraft players are waiting for the rest of the spellbound classes.

Any idea when the next Pdf is comming out. Last I heard the formatting was finalized and it should be a lot faster to adapt the classes.

That was almost 4 months ago.

Nope. No idea. In fact we're still waiting for the State of the Company announcement that was due before the end of December...

As much as I love Crafty's material, the one thing I think they could use work on is deadlines.  Sad

Constantly asking for updates and criticizing Crafty for following their often stated policy of not discussing release dates until they are imminent is rude.

My rule of thumb is that everytime someone who knows better asks, the release slips three weeks.

We appreciate the hunger for this line, we really do - and we're working to get it out there in the fastest, most effective way possible, but aren't quite ready to say anything firm yet.

Again, it's for this very reason that we don't currently keep many public "deadlines." It's better for everyone that we release something when it's done (and not before - no one likes an undercooked product), and that we don't put shaky dates out there just so you have something to look forward to (and be disappointed by).

When we post next about upcoming product, and the state of the company, or anything else for that matter, you'll know you can trust the information - which is what everyone wants. Hang tight. Good things are comin'. Smiley

Heyoo!...

Here is a question.  How set in stone mechanically are the schools triad of spell disciplnes? Like could I do white mage with 5, black mage with 5 and red mage with 5 disicplines and have it still merge well with the exsisiting classes?

You're talking about using the Fantasy Craft Mage for this?

Possibly.  Replace sublte, and quick to anger with a choose 1, red magick, white magik, or black magik.

Each providing 5 disicplines, with red mage providing 1 black, and 1 white, with 3 that are its own.  Or making 3 new base classes.  But at first just the mage.

Sounds like a cool campaign-specific sorcery campaign quality. Smiley

Yeah, that was the idea, at least until I build the Red, White, and Black Mages.

I was mostly just curious about the rule of three, and how important it was when coming up with the magical enablers, as it were.

Since the White mage uses spells from at least healing, blessings, glory, and warding, and the black mage uses Energy, Force, Weather, Shadow, and Affliction...

Any how..

Thats my change of subject! Smiley

I think if everything is balanced within the campaign, all should be well.  If you give 5 schools to one caster, and then 3 to the other [with no other differences], things might look a little lopsided.

My understanding of Final Fantasy, based entirely on 8-Bit Theater and GM Dave, is that white magi heal, black magi blow things up, and red magi do a bit of both though not as well as either of the focused magi.

If the purpose is to mirror that, give the red mage extra schools of spells he can learn, but have him get each Circle of Power a level later.  (My 5 minute reflex, go ahead and fiddle as you like.)

It somewhat depends on the game, but that's pretty much the rule of thumb.

It depends on the final fantasy as well, in the case of XI, and some of the tactics games, the red mage is a better combatant, but not as good at magic.  I had planned to mimic that by giving them circle of power at the same levels, but not as many spell points, in exchange for a medium base attack bonus Smiley
Also, there are a few red mage only buffs/spells that I would put into the schools that they get that aren't shared with the black or white mage.

Well I am by nature a lazy person that does not worry about a few months here or there. I did wait for World on Fire after all and that took over a year.

But the first Spellbound came out about 2 years ago by my count and its only had 1 additional chapter since then.

I do appreciate the quality of the work and figure that the leaving of one of their top talent to peruse personal projects and his own path had to cut into development time.

But I have to admit the production time on some Crafty products especially PDF products with lower overhead due to a lack of needing a physical publisher is confusing.  I will flat out admit that in my gaming click (20+ strong) I am the only one that still collects Spycraft or any Crafty product for this reason.

But not knowing the full picture on things all we can go on his hearsay and rumor.

But its been 2 years since I could get my group to agree to Spycraft again since we all want to run magic and until fantasy craft it was just not going to happen.

Anyhow this is the last time I will bring this up this year.

Take care
