Real Steel

Looks interesting.

Strikes me this is likely one of the "board-game" movies

I thought it was based on the Richard Matheson story?  It certainly looks similar, from the short trailer.

EDIT: Crap, didn't notice another page.  mathey beat me to it - remake of a Twilight Zone ep that was based off the story.

As a spanish,  i've been suffering Cruz for a long time... and now she is ruining american blockbusters movies. Seriusly, i can't understand how she is so famous... Undecided

apart from that, it doesnt look bad, though the director doenst inspire me much confidence...
Thank you.I've been saying that for a while and nobody seems to agree.
Shes not even beautiful (compared to all the Spanish girls I know) and shes labeled like: ''default Spanish beauty''
Hurm...

Penelope Cruz right?  She seems easy on the eyes and has some nice tracts of land.  Dunno her skills as an actress though.

Real Steel

Looks interesting.
Reminds me of an anime called Plawres Sanshiro.
Very obscure and difficult to find but it was about Wrestling robots(though made out of plastic parts hence Pla-wres)

Cruz was phenomenal in both "Blow" and "Volver", not to mention mesmerizing in "Vanilla Sky" as well as the original Spanish version "Open Your Eyes". "Banditas" with Salma Hayek was just... well... I didn't watch it for the plot.

Which leads me to believe that given the right director and script... she can shine. However, that can be said about any actor or actress that are on the border of mediocre and very good.

It reminded me of Pluto, a manga from Naoki Urasawa, based in a classic story of astroboy

Real Steel made me think of Peter Hamilton's short story Sonnie's Edge, but I know that it goes nowhere close.

Richard Matheson's one of those writers (like Dick) who pops up all over the place. He's particularly all over the Twilight Zone. The quality of the adaptations of his stuff varies just as much.

Latest Remake: Firestarter

Hopefully they'll expand on the Shop. I was partial to the organization - for reasons that should be obvious to the SFA fans out there. Wink

Hmm, I wonder how well RDJ and Guy Ritchie have been together on the Sherlock Holmes set. That might work.

In kinda, sorta related news Deadpool and Black Widow are splitsville.
