Voyage of the Dawn Treader -- liberties have been taken.

Just a few.  Cheesy

Plus it had the trailer for Skyline, which I look forward to.

I am as well. It doesn't promise much in the way of true plot or character drama, but those visuals are... pretty.

Funny, I didn't get that trailer here. Megamind, Drive Angry, Faster, Green Hornet, something that failed because don't remember it.

Watched this one a couple of weeks ago, and really recommend it for anyone interested.  I'm curious how it stacks up to the books - anyone around here read them?  They're part of entirely to big "to read" pile.

Other than the name Solomon Kane it really is nothing like the books at all, well maybe a few minor details here and there. It's was like watching the League of Extraordinary Gentleman, after having read the tpbs, not very satisfying b/c you knew that there was so much potential that they just out right ignored b/c someone else had to put their spin on the character.

Do yourself a favor and read SK great stuff and one of REH's most interesting characters.
+1.

PS: I dunno where you guys stand on this matter, but can I recommend ''Scott Pilgrim vs the world'' ?
It's worth it for the 8bit style alone...

That movie is too awesome for words. Seriously, no combination of mere characters does it justice. It'll almost certainly wind up in my Top 5 of 2010.

My youngest (age Cool is infatuated with the movie. We're currently reading the comics now. I just finished Book 2 and she'll probably finish it before school is out this afternoon.

Bugger! Angry

Congrats to the foreign unions for achieving their goal of knocking the NZ film industry down a rung or two. May Nazgul infest your undergarments and goblins dig up all of your gardens.

Great.  They can cast Matt Damon, Leo DiCaprio & Afflack as Hobbits and put the Shire in Boston.  /epicsadface.

I'd be down with a modern retelling of the hobbit set in a ghetto. Like all the Alt-Shakespeare out there, where Julius Caesar is a mafia boss and whatnot.

That said, of course, fuck the NZ actors' union in the face. In the face.

Just to clarify, the NZ actor's union are only up in arms because foreign (Oz and US mostly) unions told them to be. Talk to anyone who has ever worked with PJ and you'll hear that he is great to work for and pays very well.

The fight isn't over yet. There are some Warners execs in the country either now or very soon, and there are plans afoot to show them how much we want the movie made here.
